I'm not particularly bothered that we didn't sign anyone this window, think we've got enough to go up comfortably.

But the fact we clearly did want at least one player and couldn't get it done is concerning

Our squad might be the best in most respects, but in my view we are an injury to KDH away from being in a bit of bother, assuming that Ndidi is out for 3 months. Our other options in the 8 position look really thin now - a disinterested, injury-prone Dennis Praet, a converted winger and a bunch of unproven youngsters.

Not to mention the #8 roles are absolutely pivotal to chance creation in our system, they are also expected to score a significant share of the goals arriving in the box on to cut backs. We already needed another 8 even without losing Casadei, imo.

Next to no physicality without Ndidi, and next to no engine without KDH. Is pretty concerning, but I do think we have enough to go up. Could see us dropping away and losing out on the title to Southampton though.

Id prefer if we had a shortage in literally any other position, ideally we would have a significant shortage of a director of football… but we can’t have everything we want.

Need a few players to step up. Fatawu has been exciting but he needs to start scoring more especially after his mostly red. Whichever striker gets the nod needs to get us over the line.

With perhaps the exception of KDH, or maybe Mavididi none of our forward players have been that consistent up to now.

Praet may become more motivated when his contract is running out and he needs to find a new club...!

To beat the record we need 107 points. That's W12 D3 L2. That looks something like:

Noted something similar down myself the other day. Was relatively pessimistic and had us on 107.

After Southampton we've got a great run of mid table teams who will realistically have little to play for by that time. The perfect teams to be playing. Plus I don't think we lose to Southampton AND Leeds. Probably one but I don't think both.

Fair amount away too which helps us as bit more onus on them to actually try and play

I wouldn't be so sure that they will have little to play for. With 17 games left there's only 8 points between 5th and 14th, those last few playoff spots are going to be hotly contested and any of those sides is capable of going on a run of form (similar to how Preston started, for instance).

There's much tougher games where we're likely to drop points than Middlesbrough away. If we can get to Southampton in a good position then really they'll be nothing to stop us apart from ourselves. That last 8 look like a possible 8 wins.

What people always fail to realise when they say we're 1 injury away to so and so is that this applies to every single other club in this league. Also an injury to Winks for example, as horrific as the prospect is, does not turn us from likely record breakers to relegation fodder.

I wasn’t trying to predict the specific results, just the overall pattern of form

Especially as the fee was about a packet of pork scratchings and a can of Shandy!

It’s February and let’s look at what’s left of this season, 3 & a bit months, look at the top 6, all pretty close, we have arguably the best squad, manager, players & set up out of the others, then give us a 10 point lead (some have a game in hand) yes its not a dream folks, it’s reality…

FFP has played its part this season for us and many others (apart from Forest & Everton) and we didn’t get anyone in the January transfer window but hopefully some more of our youth set up get a look in in the next few months…

Up the City… :chant::scarf:

This is a great attempt John to gather some positivity but you’re on the wrong forum for that!
