It's relative though isn't it. Soumare has what for competition? Skipp?

Or we can play Hamza there who doesn't have the positional sense to play DM for Anstey Nomads u8s.

I don't begrudge Cifuentes playing him at the moment, he probably is our best midfielder after Winks. Nor can you fault him for trying to talk him up, he's always looked like he's struggled for confidence.

I very much agree with Marti’s comments regarding his in possession work, but the comments regarding his defensive work, we as fans know that is complete bollocks lol

If Marti wants to play him for his in possession work, fine. But those stats yet again prove that whether it’s Soumare or Winks, if one or both end up staying, they need a more defensive minded partner alongside them, that and a new striker is the missing part of the jigsaw, otherwise I fear we’ll be seeing more teams the calibre of Preston out work us.

He's going to persist with Soumare and Skipp isn't he?

I'm writing this to channel that match thread against Middlesbrough when someone said those exact words about Drinkwater and Vardy...

I actually reckon if the window shuts and Winks is still here, he'll work his way into the starting XI over Skipp. I just don't think Marti wants wantaways rewarded with a start.

It's just good man management, isn't it? It's dopamine for days.

You want someone to do something more, you give them an attaboy when they do it.

Soumare can track back and can put a decent tackle in, the biggest problem is he switches off and drifts and doesn't look particularly committed. Some people are more motivated by criticism, maybe a manager comes out and challenges him publicly to work harder. Obviously Marti doesn't think that's the right approach with Soumare and he probably isn't wrong.

So now Soumare has been publicly arse licked, you believe he will now run and tackle a player walking towards him and not decide to jog after once they have passed him by?

He is just a shit player.  Anything else is just a cope because we have fallen that far and need something to cling onto.

Probably put Skippy on the pitch and said to  everyone, if  you cant do better than him you might as well become a barber, Soumare knows what he  has to do now

It’s going to be, yet again, another season where we all hope and pray he turns good but we all know he won’t because he’s shite.

Like getting back with a toxic boyfriend/girlfriend and hoping it will be different the next time. As fans, that's our relationship with him. Like a lot of the players at the club we need to end it.

Send him on loan and pay half his wages and get a young hungry midfielder on loan from the premier league.

Remember that Europa league performance where he was all over the pitch, driving with the ball and was excellent?

Where did that come from and why did he only put in such a performance one time?

Such a mysterious player.

He looked excellent against Man City too in the community shield.

No the reality is that Ciufenties doesn't have many options and there's a decent chance Winks fcuks off if there's an offer, so he's got to at least try something.

I think Soumare is total wank and I was one of the early ones to call out his lack of tracking a man but Marti is very much in make up with what you got at the moment, so he's got to try with that. If Soumare is being professional and supportive of others, that's a start on some of the other goons we've got - two of which would be first choice midfielders.

As well as being a complete waste of space, this player is also the cause of an effect which has led to 2 relegations and a completely broken team ethic.

The 'Soumaré effect' is where the other players (youngsters and experienced pros alike) see him lolloping aimlessly around the pitch, putting in the minimum effort and contributing NOTHING to the side - and, naturally, think 'hey, if he gets away with doing f***all - why should I be busting my bollocks??'

Our only good spell in recent times was when he was spending a season at Seville (he thought he was too good to be in the championship), so it is very disappointing to see our new manager giving him so much game time and therefore playing, in essence, a ten-man team.

that's clearly not what was said was it? He has the technical ability but lacks application. He's obviously not being sold this summer as we're not buying anyone to replace, and the alternatives (in a pick two situation) are Choudhury, who also has no positional sense, Winks who wants away, or Mordors entry to the face of kinder competition. It's obvious he's going to have to play frequently so Martis job is to get him playing to the best of his abilities, and building him up might work, certainly just constant bollockings haven't so far

The managers must really rate him, in a news report, he's played almost every single game in 2025

More minutes then any other player

that is quite frankly disgusting.

Ruud built him up by calling him a destroyer.

He is just shit and anything else is a cope. We have had 5 managers, plus the ones when on loan and he has played the same way and not improved over 4 years.

We are stuck with him, no offers or rumours shows up yet reality of him as a player.

I just can’t see another manager suddenly being able to make him play, especially one who can’t even get his fullbacks to overlap once they have passed the ball instead of  watching like statues.

ruud could also start a fight in an empty room, I don't think the atmosphere around the club was that great with him in charge.

Whether you think he's shit or not, he's less shit than Skipp and Choudhury and with a dearth of options and no transfer plans, is going to have to play. Getting outraged that Cifuentes is trying to get the best out of him as one of his only options in a key position is honestly pathetic behaviour.

Another managers hubris.  You just have to watch his tapes for the last 3 years or even the last 3 games. Another manager playing the donkeys exactly the same way and getting exactly the same results. We need someone to be ruthless not kick the can down the road.

I’ll have some of your copium if there is any left after saying Soumare has technical ability.

again, we have 4 midfielders to fit two spaces in a league where you play essentially twice a week for the mid stretch. The entire squad needs to be utilised to get through that. Whining that a manager is trying to set up the squad to do so is just weird.

This is a Rudkin problem.

Proactive DoFs try and bomb players out quickly when it's clear managers don't rate them when their resale value is still relatively high.

"LEICESTER CITY have reportedly rejected a bid worth £13million from Monaco for midfielder Boubakary Soumare." Whether Rodgers wanted to keep him or not we had to accept that bid, the point of having a director of football is stop a vandal manager trying to have it all their own way with short terms thinking.

Rejecting that bid was arguably the most stupid outgoing transfer decision we've made - this was pre-PSR rule changes too.

would have been not far off his book value even under PSR rules as well wouldn't it?
