He has arrived at training today, so clearly not close, I read also he has asked for 3-4 years. Good idea while it lasted but he’s not going anywhere.

Fxxk me, I can see why we bought Coady now and gave him a stupidly over the top contract.  What is it about him that has you guys saying you'd rather keep him than Faes and Vestegaard?  You really have bought into the same shit that has seen him steal a living since Wolves.  

He couldn't even break the first team under Maresca over the other pair.  Enzo preferred the shit twins.  And he was right to.  Then we got Cooper, who also preferred not to play him.  And his first contribution this season was to prevent us getting our first win of the season by fxxking us over in 3 minutes against Palace.

He's wank.  Absolute fxxking wank.  That's not to say that the other pair are good.  They're all shit, but 2 of them kept this cxnt out of the side.

 

He speaks well.  Fxxking brilliant.  Extend his contract.  He's a real leader.  Great example.  Wasn't he trying to get a move to Wolves in January?  And now he wants Rangers.

It’ll be the same situation, other club not willing to match the stupid wages and us trying our best to haggle our way out of a sale to avoid a balance sheet loss on the fee. Buyer pulls out and lose out anyway. Vestergaard could easily have left but didn’t fancy it. 
 

What’s annoying is this better not prevent Ben Nelson getting into the team.

Usually before agreeing a fee, the buying club will have had some degree of conversation with the players representatives to discuss current and expected wages, contract lengths etc and if given positive feedback then both parties would agree for the buying club to engage with current club to start negotiating a fee. 
 

I still think this will get done, I think there will be compromise and Coady will get a 2 year deal with option for a 3rd which is triggered after he plays a specified number of games.

It's strange because RM likes his defenders to be good on the ball and he's probably the worst out of all of our defenders at passing, even Faes has a decent long diagonal in him. Vestergaard would unironically be a decent signing for the SPL under Martin.

I’m more concerned that we are stuck with Soumare and the new manager plays him. If can’t see Rohl playing him after seeing what he doesn’t do.  Thankfully he has a stats background not just cliches about experience.

Percy came out with an article last summer saying a player signed in summer of 2023 who ended up being a squad player was originally on £70k and went up to £100k once we were promoted

If ever there was proof that there's been a huge brain drain of football knowledge at LCFC the Coady signing was it. 

 

Had become out of favour at Wolves in 2022 (aged 29) and went on loan at Everton where he failed to impress and they didn't want him either. Now 30 years old, 1 year left on his deal, no one after him and we pop up and pay a reported £7.5m for him. 

 

Any recruitment person worth his salt would have known: he's not that good, he's not worth that fee, he's not worth that salary.
