I liked Yunus, I think he would’ve done better in the Premier League which is less physical and has overly protective referees. He has great technique. Unfortunately he fell between the two roles for Enzo. Not really a winger, not quite a number 8. Probably the perfect number 10 as a plan b which we don’t really use! He’s likely a victim of previous financial failings at the club. If we could spend with less restriction then £7m for him would’ve been a no brainer.

I'm a bit gutted. Really liked his character and technical ability and at his age and the price, it's not expensive at all. But he didn't make that much of an impact and so we probably roll the dice and take another risk for the same price or a loan with an option to buy.

He got us across the line in a few tight games in 2024.

All the best Yunus!

Really good lad, signing originally made sense and if money is tight then we need players who the manager really wants.

Will have a good career.

I like him, but on the balance of risk versus reward it probably wouldn’t have been the right decision to sign him. Especially for a few million that is precious in the current climate.

He might have been ok, but I feel it would more likely have gone a similar way to the likes of Cengiz Under. Hopefully we can find a less risky or inexpensive option

Good player with a good attitude. His absence though will be more than covered by Alves.

Pretty confident a fully fit Alves would have returned better numbers than Yunus did with the same minutes this season.

Quite sure he'll go on to do pretty well. Just right player wrong time.

If we weren't in such a financial pickle then I wouldn't mind taking the punt but I think we have more pressing concerns than spending ~£10m on a backup.

I think the complete opposite. For £7-8m, getting a player who can cover several different positions is a great deal, in this day and age. Would feel completely different if I actually trusted out recruitment to find some bargains again. But, I totally understand why they haven't made either permanent if he's going to be ok the periphery again.

Weird one; both a sensible decision and a not very logical one at the same time

Last summer Plymouth got Morgan Whitaker for 1m (19 goals and 8 assists), Hull got Jaden Philogene for 5m (12 goals and 6  assists)

There are plenty of cheap gems out there if you look hard enough.

7m for a player who can't get into our championship 11 is horrendous.

I like him a lot, but it is just not a good deal.

I wanted him to do well. I wanted to sign him. It could be more of a case of redistributing the funds than not actually wanting him as i'd imagine we need a starting 8 and its hard to put our trust in him to start in the prem if he wasn't a regular in the champ. He could have been a good squad option if we were not having to be careful with our finances.

Nice guy who had some good technical ability. Unfortunately without any pace or physicality the english game was never really going be a fit for him.

Neither a winger or CM so not surprised that we’d not keep him on.

He wasn’t in the trusted 14 or so players that Enzo barely left out when fit, so actually not the surprised.

However like others have said, if our finances weren’t so tight, it could have ended differently for him here.

A few players on a free and raiding the loan market will surely have to happen with our needed rebuild.

100% agree but it feels like we are so far removed from scouting or fishing in such waters. Even hugely wild card signings like Fatawu have come with the agreement of a £14m permanent fee, pretty staggering really. He's worth that now but given his stature at Sporting a year ago, it was way over the top.

Something we need to get better at!

Yes it was over the top, I think we got a little desperate get wingers which lead to us paying over the odds.

We were always going to be on the back foot, looking for a new manager, then getting him in and understanding his requirements.

We have a head start on all of the PL teams and the PO team this season so no excuses.

Will do well at Galatasaray if he stays there.

I quickly glanced at this and read it as, "Will do well at Glastonbury."

All the best headlining the pyramid stage Yunus!

Liked him but need more of a threat. Speaking of which did we score any direct free kick last season?

Stephy scored one, might have been against Plymouth (h) I think

Not sure he's good enough for the Pyramid stage just yet!

No axe to grind at all with Yunus. Great attitude and seems a decent bloke, just not convinced he would cut it in English football. Suspect he’ll do well elsewhere
