Fans 'appalled' by season-ticket increase

Wolves fans have spoken of being "appalled" and "let down" in light of season ticket price increases at Molineux.

On Thursday, the club published new prices for the 2024-25 campaign, with some sections of the ground subject to substantial rises.

BBC Radio WM presenter Daz Hale says the cost of his ticket has gone up 17%. Meanwhile, tickets for under-14s in the Billy Wright Upper have increased in price from £105 to £290, a rise of 176%.

The club were invited to comment on Hale's football phone-in on Thursday but declined.

On the Wolves website,, external owner Jeff Shi stressed commercial growth is "vital" for the club, adding: “We do listen to fan feedback, and we understand that price increases are unpopular, but our aim is to ensure our prices are neither significantly higher nor lower than our peers."

Supporter Ryan, from The Wolves Report podcast, said: "What a day. A sad day for Wolves supporters. It’s really hard to stomach for me, sitting in the North Bank with my elderly mother. A 17.6% rise from £625 to £735. These prices are just unrealistic. I cannot see how anybody can justify these prices.

"Between us, it looks like it will go up £240 to £250 for two season tickets. It’s not realistic or in touch with society or the state of the country.

"Crystal Palace finished 10th - a 0% increase. Aston Villa up 5% and they finished fourth with Champions League football. We finish 14th with no number nine all season and are asked to pay an extra 17.6%. And we are some of the lucky ones - some are paying an extra 40% depending on if their age range is going up.

"It is utterly disgusting what the club have done to the supporters."

Do you think the price rise is fair? Have you been impacted? Tell us here, external

'I want you to boycott it'

Daniel Warren from the Wolves 1877 Trust told the West Midlands Football Phone-In: "I’ve really struggled to comprehend what that ticketing increase has meant for me personally and loads of fans I talk to.

"For a lot of people they’ve been going 20 years and it has priced them out. They've said they aren’t doing it any more.

"I’m appalled. I don’t think the club have read the room.

"We looked as a trust at the benchmarking at all of the ticket prices. Wolves finished 13th for pricing, which is where we are in the league. This increase puts us way up in the top half.

"This is a regrettable position we have come to as a Trust. As the chair of the trust, I want you to boycott it. The only way they will listen is if there are empty seats in that stadium."

These owners always say the same, yet the additional revenue from increasing ST prices is probably 3/4 million.

Plenty would go “I can finally get a ticket!” so captive audience springs to mind. :(

That’s the problem, we have a ST waiting list as I suspect Wolves do. We are nothing to the club just a number. You don’t renew someone will pick up your seat they don’t care how long you have had you have been coming down or how long you have had your seat.

I read through the thread on here of members trying to get a season ticket in the end of season lottery, it’s a sobering read if you ever think of giving it up.

I would love it if all fans just agreed for one season to say 'Nah, we're not paying'.

'We're all off to support our local non-league team. They can have our money now'.

If all fans agreed to do that, prices would drop massively.

Obviously will never happen but wish it would,

crazy isnt it?

but people still pay up so at this point can you really blame clubs for raising prices?

Makes you wonder what figure they'd have to get to for the majority of fans to say 'enough is enough' and just not buy a season ticket.

I think you'd have some people re-mortgaging their house before it got to that.

Clubs obviously know that.

People will always go but I’ve said before, when games are moved to stupid KO times, it would interesting to see the away club not sell any tickets.

I was just thinking the same thing. I can afford our increase and could probably afford a 50% increase for example, but I ofter wonder if fans are seeing real value for money in entertainment terms.

Could £50-60 for 90 minutes of entertainment be better spent.

I'm not sure it would drop. Part of me suspects this is the long term plan.

Clubs want to become international entities and they would rather itinerant fans from further afield paying £70 for a ticket then a local STH that pays the equivalent cost of £25.

And so the Premier League participants in August 2024 are the same as in August 2022, bar Ipswich for Leeds. Aside from laughing at Leeds, this is not altogether healthy for the game in my opinion.

Of course they’re likely to stick. They’re either starting a season on -50 or being relegated to league two..

reckon the latter would be great fun to watch. Phil Foden and co steam rollering MK dons and Accrington Stanley et al

Probably just be a fine and points deduction.

This is how I think the merry go-round will end.

Man United: Gareth Southgate

Chelsea: Roberto De Zerbi

Brighton Hove & Albion:... Rob Edwards

Any I missed?

Waiting lists are great until you ask the person for £800 for a season ticket. Then I suspect there will be the vast majority who say "nah".

Especially since if you buy a membership at Wolves you automatically get out on the list. Most of them probably aren't even interested.

I hope these price rises backfire spectacularly personally.

Curious how Villa have avoided not been picked apart, no one in for manager or any key players.

They're not that good, see the last few months. I predict a bottom half finish next season

Nothing can stick until someone has the balls to carry out the punishment, more then likely it will just be a fine, or a small non meaningful points deduction at the most.
