The thing is money is being thrown at him. Probably going to be a millionaire at 16. We need to prove to him he'll get very well remunerated here to a similar level in time and that he'll also get first team football and progression more rapidly here than at any of the bigger clubs that are preying.

The issue is in the past that has not been the case, Nyoni's probably had morw 1st team football at Liverpool than wed have given him and we need to be honest as well as sorting out what should be our priority.

Really??
For sure we need to be showing him the expected path to the 1st team, which it seems is happening by way of 1st team training, put in travelling parties, 121s with Ruud & next is into the squad but everything else is all down to him & how wide his eyes & ears are open.

He's probably mates with Tyrese Noubissie he'll be advising what it's like at Man C, he's only 15 also & aware he has an injury but where is he within the Man C academy & 1st team route, was he playing in the older age groups remembering that Man C academy unders are all going to be of similar / better quality as they go up.

Nyoni's a little different in that he's already 17 which is a big jump in development terms, but he's still not played in a premier league game (sat on the bench for 4 games granted) then just 4 times overall in the FA/EFL cups & 26mins in a position pointless Champions league game which is great don't get me wrong but Liverpool can afford to give him those minutes when they have games or qualification all wrapped up bring on the kids.

We are fighting relegation & yes how worse can it get but if it doesn't pan out we could destroy him as well as the whole structure of the squad (which yes needs knocking down anyway) if it does go pear how do you get the others back n side....looking at a managers view not fans we want something to happen but the managers gotta skirt around the full picture before making wholesale changes i guess.

We knew it was coming but still is horrible. We’re happy to waste millions on the likes of Reid and Ayew, finishing fans like me off in the meantime but a genuine exciting prospect who would give us a chance to be something again isn’t worth anything like that. What’s the point

Burton must have one of the smallest teams going if this lads only 5'2

What’s exciting is he’s got that rare ability to almost run through a player. He’s not kicking and running he’s actually directly going through them like they’re not there.

He’d be our best player at 17 or he’ll join man city and we won’t hear his name again until he’s 20

This is how the likes of Man City and Man Utd are taking 15-16 year olds from academies the same size as them. Offering them the wages of £20-40k a week apparently.

The issue for us is we haven't even shown what the pathway is for these talents previously. We've never given an academy player under the age of 18 regular first team football, even to the modest degree that Nyoni has had at Liverpool that you quote. So until we do that, then i can't agree there's nothing more we can do to hold on to these talents. The club will point to how Monga and Evans are being immersed in the squad in training and travelling etc but we almost have to go over the top right now to erase the past which may be preceding us and losing these players.

What impresses me is how well rounded he is as well. He can score, he's got great vision and can pick out a key pass, he can take a man on. Pretty much everything you want from a winger

We should be throwing a pathway at this lad to play first team football next season, as well as a fair release clause in a contract.

Based on his potential, it's likely that he's too good to be tied to us long term, but he could be a real asset for us next season in the Championship. If we offer him first team football and a fair release clause of 20-25m + sell on clause. Make it a no brainer to sign on with us, knowing that he won't be trapped if he does perform to the expected standards.

If we lose this lad and only get a couple of million for him it'll be a real kick in the nads. Ryan bertrand got paid £8m by us to contribute nothing. Surely we can risk chucking a million or two at someone with massive potential and upside.

Is Evans local?

Northants.

But Nouboussie was a local lad and his Dad worked for LCFC. They still go when the big cash gets waved at them.

Seem to pick a fair few up from that way.

We had/have a feeder team in Northampton which I remember really pissing my Cobblers supporting flat mate right off.

Has to be a very good chance Monga breaks through next season in the Championship, you can argue it should be now but I think it's unlikely until the last couple of games.

He goes to Man City, there's a chance Pep throws him straight in but I doubt it, probably be a couple of seasons of u21 football (albeit being paid decent for it )

Have to convince him to show what he can do in the Championship and then the big move will come.

No big clubs round there so it makes sense. Go north or west and you are competing.

East and south and we should clean up.

I think schlupp and chilwell were Milton Keynes way.

LCFC MEN U21S
McSweeney: We’re Controlling Games Now

Leon McSweeney believes our Under-21s have started to display much more dominance during matches, leading to a four-game winning streak in Premier League 2.
Catching up with coach Leon McSweeney after the Development Squad’s latest victory
Monday night’s success at home to Tottenham Hotspur was a fourth straight PL2 win
Confidence continues to grow, McSweeney says, as the young Foxes climb the table
There’s plenty more to come from this group before the end of the season, he adds

A 2-0 victory  over Tottenham Hotspur at LCFC Training Ground on Monday evening, courtesy of first-half goals from Amani Richards and Logan Briggs, saw the young Foxes move up to eighth position in
, a reward for an impressive run of form of late.
“We set the players a challenge from the start of January to turn their dominance in possession into the scoreline,” City’s coach explained. “They’ve just taken it onboard and implemented into the games.
“The dominance in which we’ve controlled games with and without the ball has been particularly pleasing. The four wins are testament to that. Hopefully it will continue for the rest of the season. Confidence can be a factor at any level, but particularly in the Under-21s

The Man City deal is done and dusted no? Just a matter of time (end of season I imagine) and then tribunal.

Posted

Surely a few appearances from the bench would boost his tribunal fee?

If a Man City come knocking, there's really not much we can do.

Posted

Scenario

Man City get him

Man City Relegated via points deduction

LCFC relegated due to being crap

We play Man City in the Championship with Monga starting for them.

You couldn't make it up - Well I just did :P

If he’s agreed to go to man c then surely they tell him that there’s no reason for him to push to make any first team appearances.   That if RVN asks him about some time on the pitch then he just says that he’s very grateful for the opportunity but he doesn’t feel ready for it.  that’s what I’d be telling his parents if I was Man City’s head of academy.  (Off the record of course).

I don't think it's even the money, or the pathway to first team - kids would rather sign for the likes of Man City than us, we're circling the drain of the PL and look to spend the next few seasons bouncing between Champ and PL if we're lucky.

Don’t think the club can be blamed here as long as we get a good fee. It’s an awful reflection on what the sport has become though.

Not at all. Been happening forever. Remember raheem to Liverpool from qpr for peanuts

Wouldn’t be the worst idea to say keep a few quid but we get first option on any loans.

He’s not going straight into the first team so I’d feel a lot less shitty about it if we got him for a season or 2 when they are still developing him.
