It easily could be one of the upcoming academy lads if they have a good breakthrough season. Just because it’s pure profit. Wouldn’t even need to be a top six club either, someone like Brentford could buy Alves next season which is actually quite depressing.

Probably won't be Alves unless we get his contract sorted (unless I missed an extension). The obvious ones are Nelson, Fatawu or Hermansen. Based on very little more than blind optimism I've not completely given up on Cannon!

Hermansen, and honestly, it really might be Chelsea again lol

Anything above 24m puts him in the top 10 most expensive keepers of all time.
Currently I think he is highly valued by our fans, more than his general valuation might be.

Maybe if he has a stand out season in the top flight, but he will definitely be under the cosh more than he was in the Championship.

I agree.

Keepers don’t tend to move much and when they do it doesn’t tend to involve huge transfer fees .

Personally I’d be surprised if Mads leaves for a big fee - in fact I’d say there’s more chance for that with Jakub.

Hopefully they bring in some less shit rules, so the big cartel can train and scout their own players and not just clear up any talent for billions.

Even if the rules change - we will likely still need to make net financial gains on transfers season to season for the foreseeable future.

I think bar one season under Rodgers we generally always have. The season where we went 'crazy' by our standards, and failed to bring in really one decent player is what screwed us the likes of Soumare, Daka etc.

And hoard them in the Loan abyss somewhere in Europe no one’s heard of just to stop others getting their hands on them !!

Boring answer is probably, depends who we buy and depends how those in team play this season.

Mads though seems likely assuming he doesn’t stink the place out.

I bet even then we would still be stuck with Rudkin

How the hell can you have a system that encourages developing your own players via your academy with no hope of holding onto them in order to balance the books because they work out more valuable in the short term on a spreadsheet?

It's a complete disgrace. Any system that incentivises selling academy players, even when not really beneficial for them really has got to be abolished. You can't blame the clubs for this. It's the kind of loophole this sort of stupid ruling deserves to have exploiting.
