Not that I don't like Nelson, but just interest in your reasoning? Good question, quite simply because Saelemaekers has played a lot of football and his creativity and goalscoring for the type of player we require is poor. Nelson has played less football and so the basis is that with his skill set and type of player he is that he'd be expected to provide goals and assists. There's no guarantee but he's technically very good. Saelemaekers is Albrightonesque, which there's nothing necessarily wrong with but we have Cordova-Reid to be that type of squad player. We need a player with potential to bring goals and assists. 1

CrispinLA in Texas Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 Think we will get him as reading Arsenal Mania all the posters want him gone as he's regressed as a player and really doesn't do any much anyway in the games he's played in..... they'll bit our hand off we offered them 15m

And that's optimistic. If we're signing for cover then why pay more? Even if you do believe he's better, does he warrant what would likely be double the cost? Not that I'm advocating buying Yunus, but I'm also not advocating bringing in Reiss. It's quite strange to me how a guy who played in 15 matches last season (though only 257 minutes such is his importance) and didn't register a goal or assist is garnering such enthusiasm.
em9999 Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 (edited) He needs first team football I think if he was signed he would suprise a lot of people , plus he gets on really well with cooper and I believe he will bring the best out of him My opinion might be wrong but I am a optimist Edited 24 July 2024 by em9999 1
Popular Post JimJams Posted 24 July 2024 Popular Post Posted 24 July 2024 The problem for me isn't actually the player, despite my protestations. It's the VALUE in the player. If we were getting him for free or a low fee then I'd be game for it, but there's no way that's happening. This is why Arsenal gave him a new contract. It's like if someone offered us decent money for Soumare! They want someone else to pay for their mistake. The mistake in awarding a player they don't particularly want or need with a lucrative contract which now restricts them in the market. 5
em9999 Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 I think the whole reason for the new contract is for him to retain market value

I can't believe we are thinking of playing Fatawu there. Edited 24 July 2024 by coolhandfox 1

fox_favourite Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 I like this as a potential signing. But I still feel we need a striker and a CM as well 1

It would be criminal to take Fatawu away from RW and I think we need a left footed LB/LWB on that side so I'm not sure what he's going to do. I like the idea of a fast transition and fluid system but that ought to be achieved with deploying players in their correct positions. 1

Mickyblueeyes Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 I like Nelson. Good player. Like Nketiah, he needs a step down to thrive.
lcfc sheff Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 He’s a good player. As long as it isn’t a ridiculous fee I’m game

jv1 Posted 24 July 2024 Posted 24 July 2024 Absolutely 100% yes - hope this one has legs - if this is where we are going transfer wise we should all be a bit happier
