I am not predicting Trump means the end of the world and I am not demeaning anyone for their democratic vote. As it stands and alongside my own work, the dearth of hard info from either side does not precipitate a material change in my impact assessment. That is mainly because I expect Trump to fulfil none of his pledges. As stated, you have developed an incredibly strong stance on a candidate, have been telling us the world will end and are belittling nearly 70m people for their vote. And it seems you have done little to back that up with publicly available info. If you have the inclination to do the above on a daily basis, I'd expect you'd have the inclination to do some simple calcs. As I keep asking, If I am wrong, pls let me know. So sorry, but asking for detail and presenting little of your own does ring a little hollow. That being said, when I have time we can talk about this more on the dedicated thread and you've given me at least some insight into your position here anyway.

Grebfromgrebland Posted 6 November 2024 Posted 6 November 2024 I think calling people who don't like what trump represents lefties or liberals is way off the mark and a says more about you than you think. Not being comfortable with this doesn't make you left or right. 4

Unfortunately it isn't me who is going to have the bad day - what's happened today doesn't directly affect me. Or bad few years/decades. At first, anyway. Pardon me for considering those outside of line of sight spatially and temporally. But anyway, I wish I shared some optimism about the future based on the events of today, I just don't see any presenting any that holds up to logical scrutiny. Like I've said a few times, I hope I'm wrong. 5

If you express an extreme opinion and admonish, belittle, degrade, discredit and demean others for voting Trump, on a daily basis btw, expect to be challenged on it. Surely if you are telling people the world will end, you can't get defensive when someone asks you exactly how and why? Challenge happened many times on the covid thread and also to Tom G on the budget thread, despite him having years of experience in a small business!!!! You have actively made a decision to put yourself above the parapet and you are aiming to influence people, not me. My own position has been made clear throughout, I am base case on both candidates because Harris presented little to no detail on what she would do and I believe Trump is so dumb he will fulfil none of his pledges. 1

Popular Post Leicester_Loyal Posted 6 November 2024 Popular Post Posted 6 November 2024 Have we got actual people in here who live in the US saying Trump has improved their lives and their family lives? And we’ve got people who don’t live in the US telling them they’re wrong and they’re stupid? Why is the standard response always people don’t understand what they’re voting for or people are stupid? Happened with Brexit, happened with the Tory victory with Boris, happened both times under Trump. 6
Wymsey Posted 6 November 2024 Posted 6 November 2024 (edited) The result will really wind up those who even just had the thoughts of trying to assassinate him. Bet security services are on edge a bit now.. Wonder what his stance is on gun control/ownership? Edited 6 November 2024 by Wymsey

If you don't have that, your viewpoint is statistically insignificant. I of course welcome all opinions, but presenting something as a fact with no backing, not so much

It's not stupidity (not in the strictest sense) and shouldn't be labelled as such, it's self interest. 7 minutes ago, Otis said: Thoughts on how the forecasts were so wrong? They will now be forced to come to a settlement and it won’t be for what they would want. Zelensky knows that a deal has to be done - he is just trying to force the middle ground as far in Ukraine’s direction as he can. trump says a lot to get elected he did it in 2016 he didn’t deliver on all the stuff he said he would no one ever does buckle up because it’s likely to be quite a ride. The general news thread is probably going to be rather active …….. harris simply didn’t manage to get enough of her vote out in the swing states. Looks like she couldn’t convince some of the waverers that she was a safe pair of hands. 1
