He's not going to be sacked right now. Let's be honest we'd all take 15th at the end of the season. Not saying that is where we will finish but right now, though I would have liked a few more points, it hasn't been the total disaster most were expecting.  Might still happen but I'd say he's here until December. The real decision will be whether or not to let him have the January transfer window or not. It is very hard to see too many points from the next 6 games and if we lose them all and badly then that might be it. But if we can somehow get 3 or 4 points from them then we will probably be not too far cut off making it more difficult to get rid of him.

I expect he’ll be under massive pressure till Xmas with this run of games coming up.

Will he though?  I'd say the pressure was greater over these last ten matches which included some we had to win against sides I think we can all agree we expect to be around or in the bottom 8 clubs.  Looking at the next few fixtures only West Ham at home sticks out as a match we must  and probably most  fans hope we would win.

If we lost a lot and badly and are still on ten points by Christmas he will be gone but the decision becomes much harder if say we are on around 18 points at Christmas.

I don’t think we will pick up many points at all in this next run of games by the way we are playing. I think by the West Ham game he could be in trouble

I think it probably takes the pressure off, there will be lower expectations of points against most of the team we play between now and December.

The two pressure games will be West Ham and Wolves at home which are the games we will be expected to get points.

We will be half way by the end of December, so need to pick up 9 points to be still on a point a game.

Surely we can get 1 win from those 6 games?

I think he's dross but the next 6 games will be huge, if we can somehow get 4 or 5 points, we'll actually be looking good. Just gotta stick at a point a game.

Hopefully we can but a few very hard games going into Manure, Chelsea, Brentford, WestHam , Brighton & Newcastle it’ll be a miracle if we do get a result against any of these but I just can’t see it happening, Cooper just hasn’t got what it takes to get us playing how we know we can play his decisions at times are just dumbfounding so if we do get anything at all out we f that hell pot of games it’ll be more luck than his management Top and Co need to act now before we hit skid row !!

So, thought i'd go back and have a look where we were at this point in previous PL seasons.

03/11/2024 (Now); Played 10 / Won 2 / Drew 4 / Lost 4 / GF 14 / GA 18 / GD -4 / Points 10. (Position: 15th)

03/11/2022: Played 13 / Won 3 / Drew 2 / Lost 8 / GF 21 / GA 25 / GD -4 / Points 11. (Position: 18th)

03/11/2021: Played 10 / Won 4 / Drew 2 / Lost 4 / GF 15 / GA 17 / GD -2 / Points 14. (Position 11th)

Ohhhh, in the 22 season we'd played 3 more games so more chance of more losses and lower position....you wanna go game for game comparison I hear you cry?

2022: Played 10 / Won 1 / Drew 2 / Lost 7 / GF 15 / GA 24 / GD -9 / Points 5. (Position: 20th)

Very much all in the same ballpark, difference being 2022 and 2023 we were established in the PL, with a supposedly much better, more expensive team (By far! In terms of both value and wages), yet it was acceptable by many.

Yeah, you're right, i've not gone further than those 2 seasons because I don't need to, it argues my point and doesn't fit my 'agenda', but many, in their droves saw no problems whatsoever, in those 2 seasons.

And don't give me the "But we weren't playing as poorly" because we absolutely were, we were stinking the place out, as we were in 2017/18, 2018/19 and come January (I'm being generous) of the 2020 and 2021 seasons, with no hard work, endeavor and no fight, atleast we have that this season!

We can take it back to the last time we were newly promoted to this league. (Something I feel people are forgetting!)

No agenda here, I'm a big Pearson fan by the way and wouldn't have a bad word said against him.

03/11/2014: Played 10 / Won 2 / Drew 3 / Lost 5 / GF 11 / GA 16 / GD -5 / Points 9. (Position 19th)

He'll sign a load of players and then won't play them.

He'll have his favourites who he will almost always play, regardless of how poor their form is.

Is this Cooper or Rodgers he's talking about.

The biggest issue I have with Cooper, is he simply can’t be the man to take this club forward. Otherwise we will just continue to regress to a version of Stoke City 2.0 and eventually go down in a lot worse state than we even are now.

My view is simply if he’s not the man to take us forward, then just **** him off. The squad we have will comfortably achieve survival, but I don’t want the club to just gamble on Cooper and hope he manages a 17th place finish, because I believe that we are better than that.

As per usual another late goal seems to have given Cooper some more breathing space, he’s clinging onto this life here, the football is hideous and there’s a lot of luck that contributed to this position. It’s going to be interesting when we get a run of more difficult games.

Im very much of the opinion just get rid of him, the goalposts have changed re FFP, and we’re not in the same position we were when the season started, with Cooper we will forever be looking over our shoulders, because that’s just him, we need someone who’s going to help us look and move forward.

One of the biggest concerns I have long-term really is that I feel like with our board that we'll either be relegated under Cooper or scrape 17th and that will be seen as a success, so Cooper will therefore remain in charge until the cycle is broken by him not keeping us up.

I don't see how Cooper ever breaks the cycle of relegation battles, and I don't have the confidence our board would ever see that and make a change unless we're all but relegated.

Doubt the long term was in the thinking when Cooper was given the job. Will the club recognise this if he keeps us up and just give him a new contract anyway if he does?

Depends if Potter is still unemployed. lol

There will never be a need to offer him a new contract. Absolutely nobody is looking at him and thinking he's worth prising away, even if he keeps us up.

How can people be not wanting him sacked? Probably the same that wanted to persist with Rodgers when it was clear what was happening.

Extremely baffling but at the same time not surprising with our fanbase, it’s quite special.

Isn’t this the same Football Insider that says we are about to get yet another ffp sanction?

says we'll get an FFP sanction if we go down, which we probably will - we've argued successfully we were an EFL club on the 30th June 2023, so the PL didn't have jurisdiction to punish the breach. the corollary to that then is the EFL do have jurisdiction, and will try to punish us for the breach
