Just shows the gulf between the Premier League abd the Championship. Brighton abd Bournemouth thumping sides with play-off ambitions, plus our good selves hitting QPR for six. There'll always be the odd upset, (Brentford) but generally I'd say there's quite a gap.

Totally agree .

It’s a very average league really .

Obviously our greatest ever side is the title winning side and if I were to name my favourite all time Leicester 11 it would pretty much be that line up.

However, and obviously this depends a lot on how old you are, does anyone else get misty eyed and nostalgic seeing a line up line up like this? To me the is the most “Leicester City” version of Leicester City I could think of. I loved that team so much.

I certainly have very fond memories of that team.  So many emotional moments following them.  Perhaps in part because you felt that you could identify very strongly with the players and manager, and I've never seen such a bunch of fighters.  I think from those aspects they even just eclipse the title-winning team.  I also have a strong feeling for how under-rated was Izzet, especially outside of Leicester ... I really struggle to think of any midfielder in the country who was so complete - he could do everything - and I go back 70 years in my interest in football.

Yeah Muzzy has to be one of our best ever players.

Always loved this article…..

This bit is the crux……

”In City’s most dominant season, De Bruyne accounted for 15% of city’s goals with 16 of 106.
Last year, he accounted for 19% of the assists.

In the 04/05 season, Frank Lampard assisted 18 times in a Chelsea team which scored 72 goals.  25%
In the 07/08 season,  Cesc Fabregas assisted 17 times in an Arsenal team which scored 74 goals  22%
In the 10/11 season, Nani assisted 14 times in an United team which scored 78 goals.  17%
In the 15/16 season, Mesut Ozil assisted 19 times in an Arsenal team which scored 65 goals.  29%

The most impressive season of assists in the premier league era?

How about Muzzy Izzet who assisted 14 of Leicester city’s 48 goals in 03/04 and was leading playmaker that season.  This is 29% of the goals scored in comparison to De Bruynes return of 20 in 102 or 16 in 106.  Leicester were relegated that season and this makes Izzets achievement more impressive.”

How on earth did we perform so badly and get relegated with those players? So many good players listed for that season.

Would swap Savage and Impey for Parker and/or Grayson or Gary Mills.

And don't forget Pontus.

I also liked Scott Taylor from that era.

We simply couldn’t see games out that season

I am not entirely sure how true this is but,. I saw a stat once that said if games were 80 minutes long that season we would have came 4th and qualified for Champions League football…. We were relegated.

Edit- I have just looked into the first half of the seasons results and it seems as if that stat is absolute tosh. Maybe I dreamt it.

I love Claridge but if we are picking a partner for Heskey from that era it’s got to be TC. Some very decent goalscoring seasons for us in the PL. Having said that, great first season from Claridge in the PL (double figures if I remember rightly) and the winner in the cup final. Parker’s passing ability was excellent and a far better player than Savage.

Honourable mentions for Grayson (one season if I remember rightly but got a move to Villa as a result). Flowers was always the better keeper but another honourable mention for Kasey Keller.

But yes, such a great team. Established us in the PL. two trophies (could’ve been 4 if it wasn’t for Chelsea and Spurs). Europe twice.

As a mash up from when I started watching us

That's side with,

Claridge out, vardy in

Savage out, kante in

Impey out Ricardo in

Flowers out schmeichel in

Walsh out, Morgan in

No place in there for Riyad so it's all a mute post really.

Was talking about our return to the PL under O’Neil. If I remember rightly, he played one season in the wing back role under O’Neil and then moved on. Was captain too.

He did of course play under little and O’Neil in Div 1.

Especially as he missed a couple of months of that season through injury.

Without that, we might have stayed up - which would have been an incredible achievement  given we had the lowest transfer budget in Premier League history.

Yes, I think we ran out of steam and let a lot of games slip at the end. Was that the season where we were 3-0 up at HT away to Wolves and lost 4-3 ?

03/04.

We both went down with Leeds.

03/04. What a mad season that was. The flowing locks of Lilian Nalis. Losing 0-5 at home to Aston Villa and Ian Walker getting into a fight with the fan that ran onto the pitch. Sir Les and his rocket free kicks.

What I’d do to have that team playing now. Comfortably top 10.

And maybe our most technically gifted player of that era isn't listed here. I still think Parker might be the best dead ball player I've seen at Leicester, maybe one of the best I've seen in the PL full stop. His perfectly flighted free kicks and corners were responsible for some of our most iconic goals in those years - Grayson vs Wimbledon, Claridge's two late winners, Walsh vs Arsenal. Superb player.

Sinclair was also a very good, tough tackling defender unfortunately remembered for his own goals. Guy would tackle a brick wall if asked to. Zagorakis went on to captain his country to Euros glory. Ullathorne was pretty good when not injured, which was rare. Keller was an excellent shot stopper and Arphexhad a good deputy. A great collection of players, brilliantly organized, no wonder we had so much success.

I love that Heskey, Izzet, Tags, Walshy and Elliott are all still involved with the club in some capacity or another too.

Just goes to show how much of a connection they developed with City and the fanbase.

So many players that played with Parker said just how good he was. I don’t think many people appreciated him enough when he was here.
