I don't think that's exclusive to Barnes. Used to be that the academy lads would get more slack as everyone was desperate for them to succeed. Not the case any more, in fact I'd say it's the opposite- Barnes, Casey, Thomas have all had way more abuse than their performances merited.

He might still come out with the europa league but it's not said enough how poor Amorim has done. Like Ruud, there are mitigating circumstances to an extent but he still needs to do better with what he's got.

Youri and Maddison where part of the problem of we got relegated, they both gave up after Christmas and had one eye on a move away

That absence is a big part of the reason why we played with no identity and personality this season in my view.

 

Whoever takes over from RVN, and he is undeniably finished here, must play academy products throughout.
