Bizarre display from the today. They've been in shit hot form

Howe not being there probably having an effect now.

They are never great away though

Aston Villa also another good example of how not doing anything in January generally is an excuse, one that was often made here.

Keeps it interesting at least for a few more weeks everything else is pretty much done for this season

Villa will make UCL now.

Navigate Man City away and their run-in is pretty straightforward.

Newcastle should still be OK with their points cushion.

The reason we often didn’t do anything, is because we can barely balance the books for PSR with one window.

Squad management remains a real issue for Eddie Howe. Just seems to favour running them into the ground!

He did it all last season too. He never rotates. Also if you think he’s not still been impacting decision making you must be mad lol bloke is a workaholic it’s probably half the reason he was run down enough to get Pneumonia!

He'd have been an upgrade on both our choices but you sit through an awful lot of waiting before getting progress with him. Still not proven in this league, for me. His last six months at Brighton has done a lot of heavy lifting on his record.

As you say - his last six months which is a pretty small percentage of his top flight career. His teams routinely don't score goals. Absolutely I'd rate him above Cooper or Van Nistelrooy and I think working at Brighton he'd have a good sense of when a club is nicely ticking over, which is the main reason he didn't touch us with a bargepole. But Christ he's dour. West Ham could've been relegated this season if the promoted sides were any better.

Not actually played a good side though, in the league.

What does that mean?

Whatever you want it to mean?

He works hard, runs the channels and seems to be a team player. Problem?

Always seems to just get on with it as well, never see him acting up like so many do.

Villa deserved that, much better. I was thinking they were running the risk of being shithoused around 65 minutes but 4-1 was a fair reflection of the game. Newcastle just passengers for most of the game.

I never really understand what people think a club is meant to do when a player runs down their contract and leaves on a free. The club is awful in many ways but they don’t have much power in that situation if that’s what a player decides to do.

But at least we get a free beer!

Don’t give them stupidly long contracts, on stupid wages. The club can totally be blamed for it, Vestergaard won’t go because no one is stupid enough to pay him £70 odd bags a week for five odd years.

It’s piss poor management of player contracts.

didnt he reject a new contract back in 2022?

October 2021 first rejected. He told the club he wasn’t signing but rudders thought he would turn his head, which he clearly wasn’t going to do!

If Villa finish mid table next season and go down the season after do you think a substantial section of their fan base will be ok with it because they “lived the dream”?

No, but other clubs ‘fans’ aren’t lining up to applaud the team off after relegation either but watch our lot tomorrow….

Have no axe to grind with Villa but it's always annoying watching this happen under a manager who was attainable for us six months before they got him. This could be us with any football IQ.

We had a better squad at the time as well
