yes and no, medical staff more so than management, and the officials are sadly doing what the rules say, even if the rules are broken as hell and this incident sadly shows why

 

the more that comes out about Awoniyi stuff, the worse it seems to be, rivalry aside wish the lad a speedy recovery and hope his next surgery goes well

I really hope the incident wakes the idiotic rule makers to wake up, because many a manager has sad this offside rule could lead to a serious injury and it has

 

Kind hope the player sues the PGMOL etc, but i doubt that will be allowed/done

Assistant referees can still flag straight away if they are confident the player was offside.

Linemen no longer look to make their own decision in real time. They hope VAR will come to their rescue if they are wrong. I hope he makes a full recovery

It's easy slowing it down and looking at a still image, but in a split second she has to have her eye on on the ball being played, Coady and Awoniyi who are running in opposite directions, and be 100% sure Awoniyi was offside as it was played. 

 

Nowhere near as easy as people are making out.

Come off it in real time it looked miles off. She doesn’t have to be 100% sure either as var is there to bail them out. 
She also shouldn’t feel as though it’s her fault cause she’s just following the procedure, but hopefully this will lead to a rule change because as many have said it’s been coming, unfortunately it’s been proven right with an incident as bad as this one. Hope the lad makes a full and quick recovery

Which is the exact reason she can't flag, if she does flag and hes actually onside and through on goal and the whistle goes VAR can't intervene, it's done and Forest are going mental. She's not 100% sure but thinks he is, flag stays down, let the goalscoring situation play out then flag. If he scores happy days flag goes up saves our blushes or she gets it wrong, flag doesn't go up VAR intervenes and corrects her- goes against her in her performance criteria. If the attack breaks down or they miss she flags and then it shows she's made the correct decision which she is again ultimately judged on from a performance criteria perspective.

 

IFAB make the rules and unfortunately with VAR in place this is one they aren't going to take away. I think when you get a split second to judge it, your at pitch level looking across the line trying to keep up with the defender who's moving one way, and then judge when the ball is played it's probably not as clear a decision as many would think. Let's not take away from the fact that this is a freak incident and we have people with the media and on social platforms sat putting blame on people who are just doing their jobs
