It's easy slowing it down and looking at a still image, but in a split second she has to have her eye on on the ball being played, Coady and Awoniyi who are running in opposite directions, and be 100% sure Awoniyi was offside as it was played.

Nowhere near as easy as people are making out.

Kind of her job though. May as well not have assistant referees.

Horrible injury though, could probably do that 100 times and not get seriously injured. Must've been an impact similar to a car crash.

Remember when we played them after King Power took over and they were all singing 'You're not English anymore' and then Fawaz took over and they were all outside the Shitty Ground on East Mids today with tea towels on their heads.

They don't live on the same planet as the rest of us.

Given their history of chants towards us over the years, I think we can safely say that that chant had nothing to do with King Power and everything to do with our city's demographics.

Horrific injury, that. They've GOT to look at the stupid rule now. I cannot understand the logic for even introducing it in the first place.

I kind of understand the rule, he looked 10 yards offside in real time but was only about 2 yards off in the replay

imagine the uproar if he had scored but was wrongly given offside in a tight wrong decision and they missed out on the champions league by a point.

He wouldn't have scored had the flag gone up. The players would've stopped by the time it was crossed.

Football has become a joke because of all these stupid rules THEY invented and now they're calling for changes. This is what happens when you let politics and politicians everywhere.

We know, we know:

"Lessons learned".

Hope the lad recovers soon and then sues all of them because THEY knew and WE knew something like this would happen eventually.

I mean it's not that difficult to understand. Let play go on, see what happens, then raise the flag at the end of that phase. Then review it. If they play on an the attackers score they have the chance to see if it was offside or not.

If they raise their flag and they aren't offside like they used to, the attacking team lose the chance incorrectly.

Not saying I agree with it, but the thought process isn't that complicated.

It's not that simple because you risk severe injuries of the attacking players when the defenders know it was a clear offside by 1000 miles.

Another flaw is if they don't score but get a corner when it should be free kick to the defending team because they don't check it if no goal is scored

Which political people were involved in this though ?

It’s all down to IFAB who are ex officials , players and managers I believe ?

Agree they need to allow some common sense to be used .

Just scrap VAR. It’s shite.

And just accept bad errors like the offside goal in the Leyton Orient v Stockport game at the weekend ?

Admittedly that was a real howler but the calls for VAR soon came out .

Thrleres no more risk of severe Injury than at any other time the ball is in play.

You didn't understand my point. Defenders tend to get more physical when they know it was a clear offside. We've seen it hundreds of times, dangerous tackles or even pushing the attacking player to the ground because they know the play will go back. And don't tell me they're getting booked for these challenges. 99% they aren't.

It doesn't make sense not to raise the flag immediately when there's a clear offside by 10 yards.

How was that a howler? lol

Without a slow mo close up replay you can barely tell if the guy gets a touch on it or not.

You've been sucked in too much by the moronic masses on social media.

But yes. We accept errors. Even with VAR there are still errors and debate. Its been a terrible addition to the game overall.

I do love that a player completely smashes into a post on a 50/50 and people are mostly blaming the officials over it lol . If they changed the rules for instant flags and we get one that’s onside people will be fuming, they genuinely can’t win

A lot of people appear to have their cause celebre regarding match officials/VAR and will use a lot of different incidents to make reference to it.

That being said, I can't comment on that much lest I appear a hypocrite because goodness knows I have my own hobby horse(s).
