The league is in danger of becoming a closed shop of 17 teams, the gap will continue to widen unless a promoted team can relegate 1 of the weaker Prem teams.

Look at the teams that'll come up when us 3 go down, Leeds aside you just know they won't be able to attract the kind of player that'll keep them up. Yet teams like Wolves are struggling in 17th, littered with internationals.

Good luck to those coming up, somebody needs to flush a couple of these turds for the good of the pyramid.

Edit:

(already alluded to by @SouthStandUpperTier@SouthStandUpperTier)

Leeds are even weaker than last season. A team with Dan James and Joel Piroe as their stars and Daniel Farke as manager is not going to stand a chance.

Stating the obvious but bloody hell the fullbacks for Liverpool as so good.

I’ve seen their fans saying the football has left Robertson. The way Ayew pinned him was prime James Justin

Some elements of the last few weeks and survival are all about timing for me.

Wolves gave their new manager a game against us and a game against Man Utd to get up and running lol he must be delighted!

We did well against West Ham and shithoused Brighton, but ultimately a run of Brighton, Newcastle, Wolves, Liverpool, Man City, Villa was never going to go well, especially with injuries.

What is important is a few fresh faces in January and a minimum of 4 points from the back to back Palace and Fulham home games. I'd probably say the same for Spurs and Everton games. Ultimately January post FA Cup is our most important patch of the season.

If we come out of that with 8 points, suddenly we're on 22pts and last season 27 points would have meant safety. I think it'll be another low survival target this season.

If Wolves have a good run of form, you’ll be looking at 35+ for survival sadly. Anyone from 17th up can beat anyone aside from Liverpool and Arsenal

Yeah, once we get some signings in in January I think I'll be more confident.

Obviously dependent on who those signings are, and hopefully they're in before 31st Jan.

We have to act quick and Top needs to loosen the purse strings. Send Rudkin on a 4-week jolly and turn off his phone...

You're absolutely right, personally don't think they will or would ever have been the 17th placed side though, far too much quality in the squad and now they've got a manager in who can understand 7 or 8 players very well.

Worth noting though they have Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa, Liverpool coming up. As I say... all about timing and picking up the points where we have the best chance of doing so.

I still think Everton will be the 17th/18th side, they're always an injury or two away from disaster. They've drawn 3 in a row which has papered over some cracks and 3 points when others are getting none is massive.

Trent is incredible, but can be got at given all our opportunities came down that side.

Robertson is almost done at top level.

Obviously the caveat is, if we don't perform in those 4 games we are ****ed lol

it is but how would they feel when Cunha potentially gets banned for say 5 games?

its a real double edge sword atm, as for me hes the glue holding that Wolves team together

I still can't believe Cunha situation allowed to drift. I wonder how the bloke he assaulted feels watching him revel in celebrations. If Cunha had simply told the ref to FO at the end of the match he would have been red carded and banned for next match

I can’t imagine how empty Ipswich fans must feel now. Score a 95th minute winner, the consequences of which led to a Wolves player attacking their coaching staff, which led to a yellow card to their striker leaving him banned for the next game, while the wolves striker is free to play and contribute 6 points to keeping Wolves in the league, and of course the sacking of a manager. Ironically for them, the biggest high of the season may have actually relegated them. You have to hate this league really.

Absolutely. All very well that Cunha might get a ban at some point but he has been allowed to help contribute to points accumulated where Wolves will be in a much improved position

Depends if Red Bull want to (or can) get more involved with Leeds as/when they go up. I know sides that get promoted can't just blow loads of cash but you'd fancy them to shop smartly if RB are getting their hands dirty.

The league is in such a poor state this season, that a half decent window could definitely see you right. There’s only one team in the title race, Chelsea and Arsenal are too inconsistent, and after that it’s a bunch of fairly ordinary sides battling it out against one another…. But the same applies to every team in terms of transfers….. I don’t think there’s a massive amount Wolves can do, Ipswich will no doubt go for it as they’re within reach, unsure of what Everton can do, and Palace will have to be careful as they’ve spaffed a load on Nketia.

It will boil down to who can do the best business, and hit form.

Completely agree Palace and Wolves will win games as they have match winners in Eze, Mateta, Cunha and Guedes - all quality above anything we have plus they have the tools to be good defensively - that only leaves Everton and Dyche will grind out enough points plus there starting 11 is better than most of the bottom half. Sadly, I cannot see how even a tremendous window in January makes any difference as I think that we will need to win 6 or 7 games minimum and defensively we are way off it and we do not have enough game changers or creative players plus we are solely reliant on Vards. Our preseason killed us with Skipp, BDCR, Okoli and Edouard all being either bang average, over priced or just not being good enough to improve the starting 11 - it was probably the worst window we could have had and from the point EM left the board have got it woefully wrong.

Ndiaye will win Everton games alone as well.

True and despite the criticism DCL will make a difference the way that Dyche sets them up!

Robertson's delivery is brilliant but Trent's delivery is unbelievable. Trent can put the ball exactly right where the forward wants it, never seen anything like it especially from a full back.

Forget it. It's over. The January transfer window won't save us either. Our idea of good January signings is cloggers like Ryan Bennett, Souttar, Kristiansen and Tetê.

It wasn't over when we were bottom of the table at Christmas 2014 or still 7 points adrift in March. We're one point off Wolves. It's not even the mid point of the season. It's far from over.

They are but i can't stand Robertson, he's a horrible little weasel. Up there for me as one of the most unlikeable players in the PL.

If Man City did get relegated through FFP (highly unlikely I know) would that mean that only 2 other team from the PL would be relegated this season? So we could technically finish 3rd bottom and stay up?

We won on a technicality with ffp so fck it, let's avoid relegation on a technicality 🤣
