They cant demote them. As the football league and the premier league are two separate entities they can only give them a points deduction and fine. 

 

So they could give them enough to relegate them to the Championship but that's it.

I was speaking to someone the other day around Man City and their view was that even if their found guilty they have the financial power to challenge each case/charge and outlast the PL who will get to a point where they are taking a big financial hit?

I don't mean to get him out if they relegated or anything. 

 

But when he arrived there his agent was already talking about doing a few years then trying Madrid etc. 

 

I can't see him doing ten years at one club and not wanting to travel and make his mark on Europe's other major leagues.

It's hard to see a situation where he isn't a valuable asset to sell. They've probably just ensured that when he does move on they'll get good money for him.

Most of the charges are 10+ years old from memory. We'd all be raging if the league tried to stitch us up because of a dodgy deal (like Trestellar or whatever) when so much time has passed.
