I can only presume that Daka has probably been quite vocal that he want to leave, so they arent using him unless they have to. Â Ayew knows this is the best he is going to get.
Slab Edd Posted 21 January Posted 21 January I understand the thought process behind signing ayew,he was signed for his ability to win fouls, that's it, get the ball, win a foul, relieve pressure, an incredible tool for a promoted side, HOWEVER,a day after signing ayew, the premier League tweaked the rules and allowed the league to be much more physical, this means Ayews soft fouls were immediately eliminated as a tool, and we got a pretty average player approaching his twilight, not prolific enough to play striker, not pacey enough to be a serious threat on the wing. I say this as a ghanaianÂ
SK3Blue Posted 21 January Posted 21 January Put Luke Thomas up front, the headless chicken movement might confuse a few centre backs.  Ayew shouldn’t be anywhere near the bench let alone that no 9 shirt. 2

However this would require forward thinking. I would have liked Okoli to play CB in the premier league and let him learn. Losing anyway. At least he can develop and then be better position to start in the championship. Ayew is leaving in a few months, and still starts almost every game. Offers little and yet Evans and Hutchinson still can’t even get on the bench. They need the games to develop for next season. if Marti refuses to play them, hopefully they can have a loan move and get some game time. Braybrooke, Alves, Evans and Hutchinson will all be needed next season.  Â

Daka can’t pass, control the ball, header the ball and has 50p boots. If he gets any touch he stays down for at least 2 minutes even if we are in possession and lies there until the ref stops the game even if it’s eating up time that we need to get back in a game. Despite his flaws. Ayew is the better option. That’s not meant as a compliment to Ayew by the way. 2
Popular Post Jobyfox Posted 21 January Popular Post Posted 21 January To be honest the fact that Jordan Ayew is the starting no. 9, Patson Daka is the only alternative and that the club isn’t extremely active in the transfer market to rectify the situation - is proof, if anyone needed it, that this club is dead! 7
Popular Post kingfox Posted 21 January Popular Post Posted 21 January So reminiscent of the O’Neill into Taylor years isn’t it.  From Heskey & Cottee to Akinbiyi, Benjamin & Cresswell.  From Vardy to Ayew & Daka.  It’s partly why we’re probably currently so depressed as a fanbase.  From watching a legend who worked his nuts off, to having to watch Jordan Ayew fall over every five minutes and move around like a fvcking snail.  What a comedown. 8
Leicesterpool Posted 21 January Posted 21 January A decent manager would sit down with Ayew and provide him three options, 1) Allow you to speak any club and leave on a free right now, 2) See out the rest of your contract with the development squad or 3) Make him an offer of say three months of wages and can leave today to find a new club.Â

Dollfhin Posted 21 January Posted 21 January Genuinely think it's an improvement if we play without a striker and put another midfielder in. I've been an Ayew defender but he just slows the play down so much. Â I think he had a great first half vs Cov, but we just need a striker. Watching Kiefer Moore actually shoot on command was something I forgot "proper" strikers actually do. 3

We played well despite Ayew doing anything other than leading the line.  Out of curiosity, what did he do “great” in the first half against Cov? Edited 21 January by SafewayFox

In general the tempo we played was just so much faster for those 45 minutes against Cov.  Ayew was running more in that 45 minutes than I've seen him the whole season and was putting great balls into the middle (which no one was on the end of but you could argue he should be the one there).  It seems that when we actually play attacking, direct football, he seems to play well. But when we're not then he slows us down even more than without him on the pitch.

Tuna Posted 21 January Posted 21 January Could have signed two decent championship level players for the money we wasted on him. Genuinely hideous transfer.

Collymore Posted 24 January Posted 24 January Is he taking the p*ss with how slow he does everything?  It's beyond belief! Taking free kicks, pressing, walking across the pitch in general between play you name it!!!  So frustrating!!!! 1
Mark Posted 24 January Posted 24 January Can everyone at games start booing him please? He needs the Danny ward treatment
