It wasn't all negative.  Made a couple of cute passes in tight spaces.  Tried to press but frankly our press today was a fvcking embarrassment.  Not coordinated, not hunting in packs.  Everton played around it with ease first half.

Clearly he's got a lot of room for development but Christ let's give the lad a chance.

Put him straight in against Walsall.  We need to get his motor running.

Right now, we don't have the luxury of developing players for the future.  With the lack of creativity in our squad, that 20 mil needed to be spent on a player that would improve us  straight away.

Bilal, Facundo and Alves as our midfield three for Walsall.

This isn’t like a Soumare or Praet. You can see the commitment is there, the effort to try something etc etc. The whole pressing pattern off the ball first half was rancid which made him look foolish too

Not sure why he needed dropping in from the start. Evidently Cooper recognised we needed a legitimate attacking mid. But surely the sensible option would have been to start with Bueno and then bring this lad on at 60. Build him up incrementally. Not butcher his confidence in one go.

Pretty crap really, ran around like a kid with his pants on fire, he didn`t seem to realise he was playing with the big boys now, looked slightly dazed at not getting his own way, lots of coaching required then who knows.

At least he had a have a go attitutude.

I've been critical of Cooper not really being overly brave at picking creative players and/or young players, so I'll give credit for sticking him in and hopefully not just as a token gesture.

It'll take time and I do think Bounanotte is more equipped to make an impact from the start as it stands but things change quickly.

Interesting comments from Cooper about Bilal being ours, which may have been an insinuation about prioritising Facundo over him not being as worthwhile.

Which would be stupid. Priority is staying up.  If Buo is the better player, he should play. Worry about how you've developed players when we're in a position to. Right now we need to put out teams to win games.

I like a manager to have the bravery to develop players whilst in pressure situations, so I've no problem with that at all. But I don't even think it's that, Cooper is very safety first in that regard.

He's a young, promising player, not the finished article. You can't really judge him until we've seen him play under a real manager and set of coaches who actually prepare a team and try to improve players, vs the current rabble of incompetents throwing a poorly prepared jumble onto the field with negative instructions and hoping to be "still in the game" with 20 minutes to go to maybe have a crack at scoring a goal.

I think we can ignore what most FT posters think of a player given that many claimed ESR a sicknote and not good enough / or what we need for Leicester City, when he is exactly what we needed.

He will go on to be 1 of the signings of the summer, as for Bilal as the sane have mentioned he is a young lad playing his 1st premier league game on a day that threw 3 of the seasons in 1 afternoon, I’m sure he will be ok once settled.

I also find it ironic that 2 games ago Cooper getting blasted for playing and nurturing another teams player but as soon as he puts in 1 of ours then it flips back to we should be playing so and so instead…haaa only Quagmire 🤪

As excited as I was to see him start, with hindsight I think Buonanotte would’ve been a better option. Who knows what their respective ceilings are as players but right now he looks far more suited to the league, which as we know is faster and more physical than anywhere else. Yes I know Bilal needs pitch time to get there, but a few more weeks of 30min (not 2min!) sub appearances will help with that.

And that player was?

Pretty much how I saw it, I saw some nice vision etc. He tried to press (others just didn't bother). He was also playing in a new country in a ****ing monsoon.

Yeah this is a fair assessment, I was pissed off after the match but looking at it now I've had time to calm down you could see he was trying to make something happen.

Few mistakes and definitely needs a bit more strength about him as he was eased off the ball regularly but needs to be given time.

After watching him, I wish we'd have more faith in our very own Will Alves, and saved 18M.

State of you. I'm assuming you wrote Vardy off after his first season? He's played 45 minutes where  our whole team had a poor half. If Alves comes in and isn't a world beater in 45 minutes, you going to want a new player to replace him too?

would be the perfect front 3 for a game like that, but in reality, we all know it'll be Reid - Ndidi - Ayew lol

There really are some absolute dick heads on this forum.

Kid just moved to a new country, new league, big step up, shit manager, disjointed team.

People want to write him off as a waste of money already.

The irony!

Haven’t you, in the space of one post, just judged others for writing him off straight away with one hand and then characterised our (5 games in) manager for being shit, with the other?

Couldn't resist

We've seen the manager in the league before though so  you have something to go off. Judging a player after 45 minutes of his first game is absolutely ridiculous.
