Hope that's not his season over. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery. That's our 3 best academy players in the last 2 years with serious injuries.

We're so unlucky with our youngsters when it comes to injuries especially ACL. Wonder if there is a bigger issue?

What a blow for the lad and us. Remarkably, the website posted this update an hour ago. The left hand and the right hand of our Club seem totally detached

Ben Nelson was forced off just over an hour into Oxford United’s 1-0 triumph over Hull City at Kassam Stadium last Tuesday, due to injury, and missed the U’s latest league outing – a narrow defeat to Watford.

The defender has made a positive impact since joining Des Buckingham’s newly promoted side, but it remains to be seen if he will be available to return to their squad when hosting Middlesbrough next weekend.

It’s either pathetic or it’s embarrassing or in this case - both.

You wonder if it's something we're doing or if it's just bad luck. Obviously there's a degree of bad luck involved regardless (I mean obviously with Alves). For it to happen to all three of our most promising kids is astounding. Could end up being the difference between them being useful to us or not. Nobody will convince me Ricardo & Justin have been the same.

I think we’ve improved since rodgers departed and the training methods started to change.

Just bad luck in this case and probably due to playing a lot of serious football, in a short amount of time. Doubt his body had been tested properly before this point in time.

His other loans he never really nailed down a starting spot

His spell at Doncaster was very good, he played a lot and only missed the final few games of the season. Their manager raved about him at the time. There's a quote about him being so good with both feet you wouldn't know what his favoured foot was or something like that.

So he’s expected to be fit in mid to late February, then he might go back to Oxford United?

He will do yes.

Which is the right move for him. Don't let him be part of this at the moment, it won't help Nelson.  When we're in the championship, we'll need him

I hope to see him in the starting XI alot more next season, liked what I have seen from him  when he has been played, great potential this lad!!!

from the reports and ratings at Oxford, I'm inclined to believe he's more than up to a season in the Championship with us.

I'd scrap the attempts to sign a CB this month, try and get one of Coady or Faes out and use Nelson when he's back fit next month. Let's face it, any new signings would be adeadlien day and another week to get international clearance, another few games out the squad or on the bench and then available for selection back end of February.

It's one where if he's going to be getting consistent game time and actually used, then by all means use him. If we're just going to have him on the bench or not in the squad, he'll gain much more on loan at Oxford

Can we cancel his loan? Would rather have him as our starter centre back than any of our current options.

I believe he as training with us this week.

Nope can’t be recalled outside the transfer window

Leicester City loanee Ben Nelson returns to Oxford United

BEN Nelson is back at Oxford United and trained with the team yesterday for the first time since suffering a quad injury in November.

The 20-year-old centre back returned to parent club Leicester City after suffering the injury during United’s 1-0 victory at home to Hull City.

Nelson is one of four U’s players expected to be available again after the March international break, alongside Joe Bennett, Greg Leigh and Tom Bradshaw.

United head coach Gary Rowett said: “Ben Nelson is back in the group training for the first day. I think it’s going to take him a little bit of time to be at a level when he can then start playing games, so you’re probably looking at the international break.

“There is a small chance maybe just before that, but again we’ve got to try and make good decisions around a young player with great potential.

“You’ve also got the other lads who probably would be in and around a similar timescale.

“There might be one of them back just before and there might be one of them back two weeks after.

“The international break is a good point to say that hopefully the next game after that, which will be Middlesbrough, we would hope to have a very strong squad, which would be nice to see.”

As far as I'm concerned our season is over, will barely even register the rest of the games we have. We're nothing.

The only interest left is for Alves, Nelson, Cover and hopefully Wilson-Brown.

I've been more disappointed by Alves not playing for Cardiff then us actually losing games.

Gave up on the first team season weeks ago.

He’s been injured hasn’t he?
