I don’t believe that it’s been agreed for him to go to city. He wouldn’t be present on social media as much as he is or be in the 21’s regularly surely? And there would be more noise about it…..

Why has nothing been done to stop this kind of robbery?

The Premier League has rules coming out of its ears, seems to invent a new one every year but can't prevent vultures stealing from other clubs?

That's the whole point.

Smaller clubs can't block the moves from happening - all you need is player and parent consent which isn't really an obstacle when they see the £££.

It's designed to benefit Big 6 clubs who already have more academy talent than they know what to do with.

At 16 they will follow the money? Why would you stay here when you could quadruple your money elsewhre at a Liverpool or City?

I'm sure he would, but why can't we stop our own youth players just walking out and why do big clubs get away with not paying a proper fee?

It's something that should be addressed by the PL.

I would like to think a local lad who's been at the club for most of his life would have some sort of bond with the club and be a supporter. Unfortunately money talks.

But clearly there's more we can do in nurturing them for them to wanting to wear the shirt and spend a portion of their career here. Isn't that what an academy is for?

Yes its the PL rules and not the clubs fault tbh

Especially when they’re out there buying the family a brand new house and cars

Man City get him for virtually nothing and can sell him for millions even if he's only average. That's their business model, hoover up young kinds and sell them on.

If we were a relatively successful PL club then we’d have more chance of hanging onto some of these kids - but we are run like a shoddy market stall  and we reaps the rewards …..

this is a surprise though - that he’s not going to liverpool or Chelsea !

I expect he’ll leave for them when he reaches 16 or in the summer when his academic school year has ended.

and if he carries on with his development then he’ll probably be used in a CL/ carrabao squad next autumn (if they qualify for Europe)

we need to be nicking academy prospects from league 1 and league 2. That’s our place in the food chain.  £500 per week sonny and a book of uber vouchers

Particularly at that age. If he doesn't make it as a top-level footballer, he will be set-up for life regardless.

Could you imagine getting £5m in pay by the time you are 21? Easy life if you are sensible.

If this has happened, what was the point in building this training ground to develop talent if they’re okay to just get poached by bigger teams for a pittance? And how does that help PSR? I’d be bringing that up as an issue for sure, the PL are essentially forcing teams to sell their best young talent to survive, and now they can be poached for nothing? Where’s the logic and fairness in that?

Good points. For the number of players that advance to our own team for years of service or sold for big fees scrap the lot and save the money?

May as well close the academy. Anyone decent gets pinched for nothing and the rest end up in the SPL or at OH Leuven. We get left with a Bangladesh international.
