No, it’s was a question, I was unsure if you were saying that our older players are naff on the pitch, therefore they cannot be helpful for our younger players, something I obviously would disagree with.

Anyway, who cares, we are all here for the same. :)

I just care about the football we are seeing on the pitch. I want Fatawu and Monga to be flying at the defenders from the start because of their ability and confidence, but also for everyone else around to be better and click as a team.

Remember when Barnes would do that and the opposition would be on early yellows.

We also miss a midfielder that would ping the ball into space for the wingers to run onto.  Faes can do it to players standing in space and Soumare always sends it behind them and kills the attack.

That’s fine, but you have to bear in mind these guys are young, less so Fats obvs, they can suffer from heads dropping when it does not go perfectly, but yes, these two on full gas 100% of the time is what we all want.

We want JJ charging forward, a perfect Winks, Jannik dropping balls onto Fats toes high up the wing, Ricardo bursting into the box, Soumare bursting through the middle in of his to-rare rampages and Daka running onto balls over the top.

These are the perfect outcomes in every scenario, but we are not there and if we can get there (and how) will hopefully become clear during the season,

Again, the point I’m making is he is getting game time which is great, but the tactics seem to be the wingers get the ball and try and skin with no support.

Well... yes. Marti's tactics very much seem to be set up to try and create one on one opportunities for the wingers. Wingers should want these situations but when they do happen, it's up to them to win that contest and beat their man without any support. If our FB pushes up alongside him or overlaps, it's no longer 1-1 as he drags opposition players with him and the area gets crowded. That's why the support usually comes from underlapping runs through the middle which our FBs have been doing. It maintains the space for our wingers to beat their man.

The problem is, this all falls apart if the winger isn't beating his man but that isn't on Marti. That is on the winger.

But the wingers don't often get 1v1 situations because the only real effective players we have are the wingers themselves.  That often leads to opponents doubling up, because the rest are no danger so neither winger gets opportunity to beat a man and then face down on goal.

It all falls apart because when Fatawu beats a man he has another one right in front of him and the only thing is to try and win another 1v1 where the odds are against you or playing the safe pass.  The only fullback that's made any underlapping runs is Ricardo.  Thomas did it against Fiorentina in preseason and has pretty much stopped since.

I reckon he's starting tonight.

Would love to see him have a go in the 10 if we were a few goals up in a game and cruising.

He's very good off both feet.

Spot on.

We’ve regressed tactically under Marti as the season has progressed.

It’s too early to ask for Marti’s head but he definitely needs to address our blunt attacking displays and pretty quickly too.

Then I hope we are set up to allow Thomas to deal with Kabore, rather than have Jeremy track him back.

His greatest strength is beating players one vs one and you get much less of an opportunity to do that in the middle.

I don't think it's good for his development to start messing with his position yet.

I don't think it'd hurt his development but appreciate your point - apparently he classes himself as a 10 but always seemed to play out wide for England and the u21's etc

He's getting better, more comfortable with the level. His next step is to turn all that danger he poses into actual goals and assists.

It will come with more games

He came close yesterday, he somehow came out with the ball, and fed a beauty of a pass to one of our players in the box, nothing Monga can do at that point if it isnt a goal.

Marti needs to work on movement in the box when we get the ball on the wings. Normally Fatawu has already bolted and no one seems to be in the box at times but I've noticed when Monga gets into a decent position he often plays blind passes that are often blocked or don't come off. He has the ability to get onto the edge of the 18yard box at the side with will, so at this point there should be really structured play trained with universal understanding from the attacking players.

If Fatawu can teach him his trademark we’re laughing!

The left foot wand cant be tought its a gift from birth.

Genuinely dont know many/any right footers who can do it.

He's going to be an absolute beast if he can bulk up a bit as he continues to grow. He's lightweight at the minute but that's completely understandable, it's easy to forget how young he js. The lad probably spends his weekdays flicking elastic bands at the girl he likes in assembly then gets a lift to Seagrave from Mum. lol

Not seen someone so confident in beating a man in so long. He's the antithesis of what Stephy offers in that position right now and has his spot on merit.

Rewatching the highlights, he seems to be the only player not celebrating the goals?

Think that's his style.
