Agreed. Which is why it was, and still is, a mystery to me why, in the summer of 2024, they signed Okoli and loaned Nelson to Oxford. We wasted 12 million quid, plus wages, to end up with a worse player

Up until there first he done well I thought, he has still cost us two goals though in two games.. keeping could have been better on the goal as well.

Tbf relegated in his last season in Italy. It’s likely it’s going to be 3 consecutive relegations for the lad, assuming we do go down this season. Surely worth acknowledging with a trophy. Well done Caleb 🏆

I do think it says a lot about the level of Italy now. Really does feel like they're going through a bad period both domestically and internationally.

The standard there isn’t great, but I saw him in the flesh for Atalanta and he is a different player.

Okoli didn’t close the striker for the first goal. Stood off passively - 100% his fault. Nelson wasn’t great but Okoli definitely worse and prior performances by him don’t help his standing. Nelson has potential, he’s not been relegated twice consecutively like Okoli, he helped keep a club up last year. Alongside a leader like Lascelles Nelson is the best option of the two.

Guessing a lot stems from teams pressing so that we do give it to Okoli, as they're happy for him to have it

And the biggest laugh is that Cooper was briefing journalists saying letting Nelson go loan was a mistake!
