Jobyfox Posted 3 November 2024 Posted 3 November 2024 (edited) It’s interesting that lots are now putting Ayew in as a starter just as they did Fatawu after the Southampton game. Both have disappointed when they’ve played the full 90 and I’m wondering whether we should hold them back from the bench. Ayew, in particular, is made for the late substitute role. I’d maybe go: Mads Ricardo, Faes, Vesty, VK Winks, Ndidi Goodnight, Bilal, Mavs Vardy Then you’ll have potential game changers from the bench in Fatawu, Ayew and … ‘cough’ … Soumare. They have the European game this week, before they play us, so my main hope is that we approach this game with some intensity from the off. This is the worst Man Utd side in years and you can get at them, but we need to be very on it. My fear is that this side just doesn’t look robust enough to go to somewhere like Old Trafford and win - even if Man U are a very average side. It’s more likely that we’ll concede 2 or 3 easy goals and they’ll win comfortably, but I wish I could be more optimistic Edited 3 November 2024 by Jobyfox 2

I also thought he was poor vs Forest but that could be down to them having put two players on him. I think if teams will start seeing him as one our major threats and just double up on him thus rendering him pretty useless. Against Forest he was doing the same tricks, against the same two defenders, for pretty much the entirety of the game whilst getting nowhere - Just running into a brick wall each time.

Yea he hasn't been great the past two games, I think he will have more space against these though as they will be looking to attack, I would drop Mav and maybe have Bilal in there and start Fatawu 1
Lad1966 Posted 3 November 2024 Posted 3 November 2024 I thought Fatawa had a decent game. The fact he occupies 2 players is a bounus, because that should free up some space elsewhere, Fatawa became more effective when he started to take on defender on the outside 1

Regarding fatawu... Whoscored rating isn't the be all and end all, but was rated as our best players (7.7) He won the most amount of dribbles than anyone on our team (5), had the second most tackles (3) won half our corners (3) and won the second most ariel duels (3). He also had a good attempt on target. He had a couple of rash moments, but for me you play him as much as you as you physically can and get him as much experience as you can. He is ours and he is a massive asset to the team both defensively and offensively, and will only get better. Also, for good measure, his attitude is first class. 4

So he was just a bit less shit than the rest then? Because if your trying to sell to me that Fatawu had a good game against Ipswich, you might want to try next door. I rate the guy, and I agree he should keep getting starts, but he was poor against Ipswich and was lucky to not give a penalty away in addition to some silly fouls in dangerous free kick territory.

If you think he was poor, you must look at 80% of premier league players and just go 'they're sh*t'. 1
Popular Post plinchiestincture Posted 3 November 2024 Popular Post Posted 3 November 2024 If we can score five during 'Cooper- time' we should be able to hold out for a spirited draw. 'Cooper-time' is a period of positive, seemingly co-ordinated play arising suddenly and inexplicably, for a period of between 5 and 15 minutes in ONLY the first half or the second half, never both, and sandwiched between otherwise dire, dour or dangerously deranged performances. It is the element of contrast from what precedes and what follows it which might separate 'Cooper-time' events from average run- of-the-mill or OK performances. As with Fergie-time there are those who dismiss even the existence of 'Cooper-time' as conspiracy or failure to back the team; still others that it is an exotic but semi -predictable natural phenomena like El Niño or the humourous seasonal naming of Walkers crisps flavours; whatever the truth each performance only deepens the mystery, myth and legend of the man they call Steve Cooper and those brief moments of ecstasy they call 'Cooper-time'. 9

My gut says we should keep Ayew as an impact sub.

Issue is who replaces him as Ayew hasn't really looked that good when starting and looks much better of the bench After that your only options are Reid or McAteer really
FoxFossil Posted 4 November 2024 Posted 4 November 2024 Vardy due a brace and he does like a goal against ManU. 5-3 to the Foxes anyone? 1
