Okay Top. Just an idea. Who are you leaning towards?

I wouldn’t mind RvN, Moyes or Potter. I just want someone with a plan. I think it speaks to how low many of us feel that for a change there aren’t many of the bookies shortlist that I’m that against.

My concern with Rob Edwards is he got Luton relegated and look where they are now…

Won't be excited if we get one of those managers whose been lingering round the prem for years doing sort-of ok with various clubs, which for me definitely rules out Moyes, Mourinho, and probably Potter too (appreciate he's a solid fit on paper, but I'm not enthused by him).

We have to be realistic though? what high calibre manager who is out of work is realistically going to come to us?

If we are getting a new gaffer then we'll need new players, at least 5 or 6 of the above can disappear in January.

Agree, at least one centre back, at least one wing back and a couple of attacking players.

Or if target number 1 is Potter they didn't want the noise around his first game being Chelsea.

You are Colleen Rooney and I claim my prize!

If it is Big Nige who I thought it might be when mentioned and he convinces Top to get rid of Rudkin - build that man a statue and name a stand after him.

sadly, Teflon Jon is going nowhere.

For all those bigging Moyes up - by the time he left West Ham were spending around £90m a season in wages. So it's hardly like he was working with pennies.

Not to say he's a bad manager, but he was basically hitting par. Par would be a massive improvement on Cooper though, who was struggling to finish a round due to losing all his balls on the first 9.

Would be good to hear an overall strategy for the next 5 years  from Top or Rudkin to say what the aims are and what they're going to do to try and achieve them.

Father in law is a West Ham season ticket holder, and he's hoping for my sake it isn't Moyes. Dull as dishwater apparently.

But it's a cheap and easy appointment so King Power will be all over him.

I’ll take dull as dishwater if he keeps us up this season. No time for experimenting with pretty football styles, just need to get the job done.

So which clubs do you think they are holding out for, very unlikely that any of the big six will be looking for a manage in the foreseeable future.

Just spoken to someone who works very closely with the board. (FYI - I am not ITK and never claimed to be - person works on the corporate side with the ownership, not the club and just passing on what they’ve heard).

1. it was all Top’s decision. Chelsea was not a make or break game  - however, Top did attend the game (and arrived earlier due to conversations with a certain player he respects).

2. Top will head up recruitment - he never bought into Cooper and was quite disappointed with the appointment from day 1. This does not sound positive for Rudkin.

3. Club has a budget for January - for the first time in years, a representative from the ownership attended a recruitment meeting for the January window - the representative was not impressed with the target list (who presented that list was not clear).

4. Top wants a style and felt the club departed from that. He is also trying to be pragmatic. Top also speaks regularly (post relegation) to a certain ex manager who was very truthful post relegation. That ex manager has fed back his thoughts.

5. There is a candidate they want. Not a done deal yet.

Edit: wrote club when I meant board

If this is all a correct interpretation then I hope something positive can come from KP taking a keener interest in the club and ask questions like “ for a £100mil investment in new training facilities why are the first team, women’s team and most of the youth and junior sides  so unutterably shite and why are we writing cheques to pay off this miserable management  team a dozen games into the season “?

When I was in my first managerial role and about to interview job candidates for the first time, a colleague gave me this advice:  you never really know how good anyone is going to be at the job, so you may as well appoint the best looking one.

Not sure where that leaves us.

Works well if the business involves Au pairs, not so well if it was Quick Fit

I obviously want us to stay up, but not at any cost. There's a reason most West Ham fans wanted Moyes out by the end of his tenure - and the club is still trying to unpick the style of team he turned them into. I don't want us transformed into some constant drain-circling PL team, just scraping survival every season. There are other ways of doing it - Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth, Villa are all thriving because they have a clear identity and clear way of doing things.
