It just feels a bit OGS, Rooney, Lampard, Gerard type of appointment which will turn us in to a media circus. I'm sure that soccer fans worldwide will enjoy it as his name is bigger than the club.

feeling uneasy if it is RVN.

I think it's easy to forget that most managers were former players.

RVN has way more experience coaching than any of those 4.

With some of those, though, they had next to no managerial experience.

Lampard had somehow contrived go fail to lead a Derby side with Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Harry Wilson to promotion. Gerrard was somewhat more impressive in breaking Celtic's stranglehold, but still in a duopolistic league, Rooney was pretty dire and OGS's CV would have got him nowhere near Old Trafford if not for his playing career.

RVN has at least won silverware and produced a decent footballing side at PSV, with far from comfortable funding, as well as experience at a big club in the Premier League.

RVN coaching credentials far surpass both Rooney and Lampard…… neither have the coaching experience Ruud has! Plus Ruud has performed very well as a coach, at a high level, something neither Lampard or Rooney have done.

Sorry but I'm not excited at all about RVN. The dutch league with PSV where he fell out with his staff and a couple of care taker games at a massive club like Utd means he's basically an unknown quantity. Completely different to taking over a team hovering about relegation. Sure he's a great coach. Cooper was a great coach in the England youth set up. Really don't see the merit to taking such a huge risk. Out the fire and straight into the pan with RVN.

A manager that gets the value of supporters I think helps all out.

Agree 100% - someone who especially gets those supporters who care deepest and most passionately about the club and aren't afraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves.

Main thing is the players would hands down respect Ruud, he has done it at the highest level as a player, what has Cooper done? sweet f**k all!

At 48, I still think he can get 10+ goals for us this season.

Just hope the new Manager can get the best out of him.

He'd stand a better chance than Édouard and I'm not even joking

Anyone know who he had in his coaching team at PSV? Obviously rumours of fallouts with some of them isn't ideal... but curious as to who he might bring in.

Fred Rutten and Andre Ooijer were his assistants - both also left PSV once that season finished

I don’t believe either of them are in jobs at the moment

Do you not think taking a risk is the best move? Is there such a thing as a safe pair of hands? What’s the point in relentlessly pursuing Potter? And Moyes, has he actually had his last hoorah? Ok happy for us to take a risk. Ruud’s coaching CV is impressive, he will command respect and will take no shit. He played aggressive football that will likely be entertaining. Bring it on.

I didn’t see our game at yanited

the stats didn’t look great for them

did he show decent game management ?

Yes, Fatawu had Dalot on strings so RVN hooked him at start of the 2nd half and put Mazaroui on him. Nullified him completely.

He also put Amad in the team and took Garnacho out which gave them better balance - Garnacho then scored a screamer when he came on. They won 3-0 in 2nd gear.

But he was sacked for being Poo now?

Yes, and in spite of that we weren't in the bottom 3. I'm not saying he shouldn't be sacked, just that it's probably unreasonable to blame him if we get relegated after 12 games, when we aren't even in the bottom 3! He we were on 4 points after 12 games, probably fair enough. But we aren't.
