One thing that has to happen is that we have to get behind whoever comes in. The blue army as a whole never took to cooper. I do genuinely believe that if you’re to have success, you need unity!

It’s an on trend appointment if this happens.

Far from convinced myself. It’s like appointing Lampard, Rooney or Gerrard but in Dutch..

This is it for me. It's the caretaker manager paradox. A coach can fall into a high profile job on an interim basis, say and do the opposite things that got the previous manager sacked and therefore lift the mood. Everyone starts thinking that the coach is clearly capable of managing at that level, despite it not being a fair test in any shape of form. It happens time and time again.

RVN might be brilliant, but there is just not enough to go off. No one would be even suggesting him if he hadn't had the playing career that he had.

If we appoint Ruud we need to be aware that if he is remotely successful, he will be off to Man Utd at the first opportunity. And they go through managers every 2 seasons.

The first time Amorim wobbles and we’re flying under the Dutchman, it will be ‘get Ruud in’ from all the media / pundits

I would disagree with this.

Less than 4 years coaching/management with a bit part for a few weeks with the Dutch national team, does make him a novice. Undoubtedly he had an excellent career as a footballer and would have picked some bits up there, and again as a manager and coach for two good teams.

But he hasn't been in management that long.

PSV was handed to him on a plate because of who he was. He didn't sign any great players and walked out of the club because the hierarchy wouldn't back him. Apart from Ajax and Feyenoord they are a league similar to the Scottish division.

I don't deny he would have the ambition and hunger to do well, he comes across as that type of guy. I just don't understand why people are talking him up so much like he's been managing or coaching for so long, when it's only been a few years.

So are you saying the same about Vincent Kompany and Enzo?

Not the be all and end all, but the Betfair exchange gives more of an idea to the market as bookies use it hedge and lay to balance their books. This can still be very biased but it gives more of a consolidated view.

Very little liquidity and very little traded (these markets are usually rubbish)  but does show Ruud is the massive favourite right now.

IF it's announced today then if it's:

- RVN - a real mixed bag of reactions - but I think predominantly the majority will be quite pleased and excited for the unknown

- Moyes - Most people will be "OK" with this, with the hope that the experience will keep us in the EPL however will be facing boring turgid football for the rest of the season.

- Potter - Not going to happen but maybe people's reservations will be that he "rejected" us so many times and so why now?

- Corberan - Again a little bit like RVN - the proof will be in the pudding but possibly exciting times ahead - or will fall flat on it's face. Either way I think the majority will be happy.

- Other - well F knows

Just want a manager who can coach a team to create more than 4 shots at home, who doesn't bring all 11 players back for corners or just doesn't hoof the ball up field for our 37 year old GOAT to chase.

One who doesn't constantly whine about referees when you've benefit from some absolute howlers against your relegation rivals to gain 4 points.

I don't think its much to ask.

Bring on RVN, Moyes, Potter, Carrick or Coberan, I just don't care.

No one will be worse than Cooper

Good reason for Top to choose him then, make sure there's a good compensation clause in the contract. Nice little earner...

Pretty sure this is just a modern tactic. It's actually so brainless, I really don't get it. You're denying yourself they chance to counter, or even get out of your own box and you're also encouraging the opposition to just bring in an extra player to the box which creates more opportunity and chaos for them.

I hope everyone is prepared for the condescending attitude from the media where our PPG is worse under Ruud than it was under Cooper after this next run of 6 or 7 games.

Heck, I am even prepared for the condescending attitude from the members of this forum!

Is it too late to submit my application for the managers job?

I'd promise to continue the excellent work of the previous incumbent:

- puffing my cheeks plenty

- encouraging the boys to "get it to Facu"

- insisting JJ runs up and down the right flank even more

- pouring salt into the ref's tea at half time

I would even be willing to wear that disgusting khaki tracksuit.

I'm not sure there are many on here are there? From a quick glance over the past 6 weeks or so, I'd say this is about as united as the fanbase has been in terms of a decision about a manager...

I agree as to the united nature of the fanbase ... at this moment. But if the dog-poo hits the fan, opinions will change, and that includes the opinions they held in the past!
