Is he really? His win percentage in Pl isn’t that good. I’d much rather we looked abroad. Much better options without pl experience and readily available.

Question though, Potter has always said he wants his own DOF, it's obviously not going to be David Weir, Dan Ashworth or Paul Winstanley, so I wonder who he has in mind? 

I wonder if Potter wanting his own DOF is also the reason it didnt work out previously. 

 

Especially if Top wasn't (as) involved in Cooper's recruitment - that suggests it was led by Rudkin, who obviously isnt going to be keen on anyone who wants him to change role as a condition.

 

Hopefully things are different this time around.

But any succesful squad clearly needs considerable tactical direction and situational coaching which they've been missing since Enzo left and was replaced by a PE teacher.

Feel there are better coaches but we've wanted him for 2 years now, it's time to make it happen. Think the players would respond really well to his level of detail and a counter attacking 3-4-3 suits our players.

who is the most realistic comparison out there to replicate what Villa did when they fked off Gerrard and brought in Unai Emery?

Is there a similar option we can go out and get if we just pay a release clause (which may be a blocker...)

Emery was such an insane coup there isn't really an obvious equivalent.

5. There is a candidate they want. Not a done deal yet. 
 

Edit: wrote club when I meant board

That Ex manager really ought to be offered a Director position within the club.

If you take it as a concept, they hired a very good manager and the best director of football in the world.


Now we're not going to replicate that, but bringing in a manager and letting them decide who the DOF is a creating a structure that way.... is the same idea.

When I was in my first managerial role and about to interview job candidates for the first time, a colleague gave me this advice:  you never really know how good anyone is going to be at the job, so you may as well appoint the best looking one.

 

Not sure where that leaves us.

If it is Big Nige who I thought it might be when mentioned and he convinces Top to get rid of Rudkin - build that man a statue and name a stand after him.
