We can do that Man Utd chant now when we  cross the halfway line attack, attack, attack, attack attack. ( I know it will take awhile to remember all the words)

Whilst I can see why some fans take this view, there surely has to be the possibility that vastly talented coaches/managers at the start of their career have something about them that convinces clubs to take the high risk high reward chance.

It was as clear as day after just a year or so of Arne Slot at AZ Alkmaar how good he was going to be (I called it) and likewise Xabi Alonso (I called it) from the glowing praise he got by all and sundry when he started out at Sociedad's B team.

Whilst for every Slot and Alonso there's a Gerrard and Lampard, there's also clubs like us giving perceived proven managers a go who've an armpit full of failures and seemingly so stubborn to utilise the exact same methods that got them the sack previously too.

It's a risk but I prefer these types (Enzo) than going for someone like Moyes or dare I say it even Potter who I can't bare.

Fair points.

He'll get my backing as any manager does. As I say, I literally have no opinion on him. Aside from PSV improving after he left there's absolutely nothing to go on.

So I refuse to fall into the trap of emptying my sac because someone who looks relatively sexy and used to be class at scoring goals has become our manager.

My main point is, would anyone be happy about this appointment if he hadn't played for Man U. I have my doubts :D

I think Ruud has what it takes to sort out our calamity defence. He’ll get his chalkboard out and show Faes what’s been going wrong :scarf:

If nothing else it will be interesting. Far more exciting appointment than Moyes or Potter would have been.

At least if we fail we will fail with attacking  entertaining football.

I think this can be quite a key indicator, young managers doing the hard yards and people inside the game are saying positive things. Where as managers like lampard etc. Didn't really do the yards and had no coaching reputation, solely got the jobs because of their name.

Everything I've read about RVN is people inside the game, not media nonsense, talking him up and speaking very highly of him, you could argue it has maybe come slightly too quickly, but I completely agree on taking calculated risk on young managers, no one should be fooled that he's been appointed just because of his name, he is well respected and thought of, there is a process and method to this appointment at least, so even if it doesn't work out then I don't think people should be too hard on the board for once, this is well considered.

The beauty of that chant is even when our fans are all singing out of sync and at different tempos, it will still sound like it should.

Very much like the Maresca appointment it’s a massive gamble, feel 50% apprehensive and 50% excited.

But I’ve loved the Dutch National team since I was a kid, having a Dutch legend like Van Nistelrooy in the dugout is just way cooler than having Cooper.

Hopefully we sign some Dutch talents in January, but fingers crossed they don’t turn into another Michael Lamey and Sergio Hellings.

Really not feeling this. Feels like an owner who grew up watching early 2000s footy and is excited he recognises a name. Just glad Rooney is already employed.

Not really what we go for, though. The King Power appointments have varied hugely in terms of age, experience, nationality etc.

The best player we appointed as coach was Sousa and that was at the start of their tenure. You go through the contenders in the usual list linked with the job and it screams mid ranging Premier League manager. They don't seem bothered by playing careers or names.

As I said when he was first discussed, talking in the summer now, I don't think he's quite the coach some on here want to believe he is.

I don't think his PSV played the football some of you think, I don't think he was universally adored there and some of the criticisms from the fans will hit a bit close to home here.

But he had to be talked in to that job because he himself felt he wasn't ready, so that probably says a lot.

We'll see. I'm a lot, lot more open minded than I was with Cooper but I don't for one second think we're out of the water yet.

A lot will depend on how detail orientated he is when he arrives because the squad have made it clear that's what they want.

He isn't, you're right. But even if we appointed Pep or Klopp now we would be still fighting to stay up. What we need is a different tactical approach compared to this passive, negative style we had until now and there's some hope RVN will change that. He really can't be such an idiot to continue this nonsensical approach. I hope.

Whilst I'm pretty neutral about RvN, I'm not going to enjoy our up coming media name change, no longer Leicester sadly but "Van Nistelrooy's Leicester".

Lets hope we fare better than the also renamed WRP.

Just heard Rooney is to be his assistant if we can afford the compensation to Plymouth. Dream Team.

We can also appoint Ferguson as DoF and rename the stadium to Theatre of Foxes. Home game vs West Ham we score on the 17th minute of stoppage time.

I have literally no opinion on this, aside from it feels underwhelming and once again Rudking/Top going for the easiest option. A well known name in football that has applied for the job.

All i can see is that since he left PSV they have improved.

Anyone have any deeper insight into him as a coach/manager?

I shudder to think what you said when we appointed Claudio !

Genuinely intrigued by this appointment and hope it goes well, but I can see a completely weird situation; if we get relegated by <3 points it will be in part due to our current manager beating us earlier in the season!

This will have to be a first!

Also the reason he doesn’t have any League cup games to manage this season!

It's definitely a risk as he's a bit of an unknown (to a degree) but honestly this is the most excited I've been all season. That might change in a few games but right now. I'm excited about a fresh approach. Players being reinvigorated, maybe some other players getting a chance and I really hope it works out.

Can't wait for the reaction when he plays a triple pivot of Hamza, Bouba and Wilf in his first game 🤣

Jokes aside I'm excited by this, as ever with us it's going to go one of 2 ways, brilliant or disaster, there is never an in-between for us

Any manager that uses Wilf as a pivot needs to be sacked immediately, as it means they don’t know what they are doing.
