On the contrary, I suspect that he and the club have already written off this season and it's been agreed that RvN will get the chance to take us back up with his own squad next season.

Considering he was going to take the Cov job, he may stick around.

Yes, I think it was a last throw of the dice, without that change we would have gone down.

This feels similar, if we carry on doing the same things we are down, something has to change!

Let’s hope Ruud’s last throw of the dice has a similar outcome!!

I do hope not,and I don’t see how he could possibly get to that situation unless there is at least a respectable showing for the rest of the season. There is no way he can continue in the role if god forbid we find ourselves having lost say 15 out of 16 in the league.

Not sure if it belongs here but I had a dream last night that we sacked Ruud and re-appointed Puel.

It was generally perceived as a great appointment on here.

Actually quite surprised he hasn’t walked yet. Think two hammerings at United and home to Arsenal will definitely be the end.

Probably  earning 3 or 4m a year 3 year contract no chance he walks

Brighton manager just got thumped 7-0. Is he just walking? Pep just got thumped 5-1 - is he just walking?

This whole he's just gonna walk out crap is complete nonsense. He's paid good money and is on a contract. Only way he goes is if his contract gets paid off.

Would you walk away from millions of pounds?

Yep

Anyone who thinks he walks from here is not thinking straight

He's not walking and he won't get sacked, no matter how the rest of the season pans out. He will be manager when we kick-off the season in the Championship in August.

I actually want the bloke to do well but can’t help think or it looks like he’s been set up. Can’t see selling Cannon has done us any good we’ll need him next season ffs.

No chance he’ll see the season out.

Absolutely he's been utterly shocking and needs to go immediately.

So we don’t win another game this season and you think he is still here in August, not a chance in hell.

We don't have any dice. We gave them to Sheff Utd.

It's been a tough old start for Ruud and we're no better off in any way really. Fantasies of playing better football and bringing in players from man u and Holland never materialised and I'd say he seems pretty clueless as to what to do next.

xGA of nearly 2 for a whole season is incredibly poor lol

I feel like those stats look better with Mads, Ndidi and Fatawu.

However his usage of what he has available clearly isn't working, so it's one of three things

1) He doesn't realise it.

2) He truly believes the current set up it optimal

3)He's not got the ability to change it up

2 and 3 are arguably very similar.

Our stats have been terrible all season.

After 10 games we were bottom of XGA and XGF but were somehow managing to paper over the massive cracks.

It was only a matter of time until those stats heavily impacted results and they have done for a long time now.

Its bothered me that he likes a settled 11 when the settled 11 loses every week.

At this stage, he should be experimenting with the squad to see what works best.

I can't imagine he's short of money and by walking and saving face he could still get a decent and well paid job elsewhere.

The longer he's associated with us the worse his reputation will be, although he has of course not helped himself.

That’s the Mads effect isn’t it, he was very obviously saving us from being the worst team in the league so without him we reverted to type.

We got relegated in 2023 largely because our defence was so bad (we scored the same amount of goals as Villa, who finished seventh - but we conceded 22 more goals then they did). This season, our defence is even weaker than it was then apart from in the GK position. It doesn't take a genius to predict the outcome of that. The club has completely failed to address the glaring weakness in the team from our last relegation. The last opportunity to rectify that came in the transfer window that has just closed, and the club did nothing other than bring in a £2m full back who hasn't yet managed to displace Justin despite latter's catastrophic season. This is why we're going down.

Basically we're playing the same but not being bailed out by Hermansen.
