The thing about an obligation to buy on promotion is whether we can use the funds in this window. We need to take some risks in order to deliver 3,4 players to really enhance the squad. That is a risk in itself. Can the obligation based on something that is not a guarantee help us do that - I cant see how. The reality is, if we go down, we would happily take a player with Cannon's ability to lead the line.

Keen to see what sort of deal we do.

Given we have recalled him, we must have agreed a deal that ensures we have additional money to spend in this window. Either Sunderland have agreed to a permanent deal now with a promotion add on or Sheffield United have improved their offer.

I think we will be looking for a fee of around £10m plus promotion add on. That should give us £5-6m PSR profit and chuck another £20-30m into the January kitty

Not happy with this if we’re taking 7m from Sheff Utd for a player who could be integral next season. But don’t mind if we’re gambling on getting nigh on double that from Sunderland.

I understand other peoples justifications/opinions. It’ll split opinion this one and there’s probably no right answer.

It's almost double what we paid for him if they go up. It's tempting. With Le Fee signing as well and a very good manager I think they stabf a chance of going up. Dilemma. I'd want £7m + add ons from Sheff Utd

Something like £7m now and £3m in attainable add-ons would be tempting over the potential of getting £13m outright in the summer

Similar Okolie leaving, this too feels short-sighted. If we go down, he would be perfect for us with Vardy ageing and Daka still not performing. We may well need to bring in 3 strikers in the summer if Cannon goes. I only hope they have someone lined up to come in with the money this sale generates.

Yes I'd take that

I’ve got mixed feeling about this.  On the one hand, if we can sell him for good money, we can buy maybe a centre back to help us try and stay in the PL.  However, if we’re relegated I think Tom Cannon is the sort of player we’d want, especially as Vardy won’t last for ever and Daka is just too inconsistent.

If he is sold there needs to be a 50% sell on clause especially if he is only going for a fee between £7Mill and £10 Mill.

However this is all speculation.

What if.

We cancel Edouards loan.

Sign another player on loan that will actually contribute.

Use Cannon as our 3rd striker

We can’t cancel Edouard’s loan. Palace have to recall him.

If we are seriously selling him for 7m then we are crazy. I would 100% be keeping him for next season unless you can get really good money for him. I think there is something there’s no doubt we sell him and buy and 29yr old who fails and is stuck with us.

If we go down and we’re relying on Cannon as our striking hope we’re ****ed.

We need money now and Sunderland won’t provide that, use their offer as leverage with Sheff United and chuck Hamza in as well

in the most PSR efficient way

Absolute mistake to sell him. Can we please go back to being a club that develops players before their prime, rather then buying players that are past it.

We aren't the kind of club that going to invest heavily in a decent striker once Vardy retires, so look forward to a few years of Daka-esque strikers or worse.

But evidence says he’s likely going to provide you minimum 10-15 goals with a run of games no? Don’t think you can undervalue that.
