Premier League clubs to discover potential Profit and Sustainability Rules charges on Tuesday
Clubs who had recorded losses for the first two seasons of the latest three-season cycle were required to submit their accounts for the year ending June 2024 to the Premier League by December 31; any club served with a complaint by the Premier League on Tuesday has 14 days to respond

The Premier League will issue disciplinary charges on Tuesday against any clubs who have broken their financial rules for the 2021-2024 reporting period.

Clubs who had recorded losses for the first two seasons of the latest three-season cycle were required to submit their accounts for the year ending June 2024 to the Premier League by December 31 2024.

Any clubs served with a complaint by the Premier League on Tuesday will have 14 days to respond.

An independent commission will then hear the case during a 12-week period.

That would also allow time for an appeal - if required - before the May 24 cut-off point at the end of the season.

Both Everton and Nottingham Forest were charged last January with breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules [PSR], which dictate that clubs are in breach if they exceed the maximum permitted losses of £105m over three seasons, a figure which is reduced by £22m for any of those seasons spent outside the Premier League.

Those charges were in relation to their 2022-23 accounts and were fully heard within the final months of last season under the league's 'standard directions' for PSR breaches, with Everton docked two points and Forest four.

Everton had also been docked 10 points in November 2023 for a PSR breach for the period ending with their 2021-22 accounts, a sanction which was reduced to six points on appeal last February.

Investment in infrastructure, academies, charity foundations and women's football are all items which can be treated as 'add backs' in a club's PSR calculation and do not count towards the £105m loss figure.

Same

Club deserves everything it gets with how we’ve been ran into the ground over the last few years.

My main annoyance is that our top brass will hide behind the “they are out to get little old Leicester” rather than any of them taking some fvcking accountability.

Here's an idea. PSR breaches to lead to senior board members being removed from their post and served bans from operating in similar roles in the sport.

Punish incompetence at source and watch clubs fall in line.

These things should never influence the competition element of sport. Makes a complete mockery of the product as a spectacle, not to mention fans should not be punished for financial mismanagement (any more than on-field consequences such as having to watch the like of Danny Ward - again, that is.)

We’re going to get mullered.

PL have there shotgun loaded and cocked…..we’ll be crookies topic of the day tomorrow on talkshite.

But at least the PL don’t dish out the punishment, and we’ve already exposed how shoddy their rules are. I’d argue the PL need to tread carefully with us…. We’re not afraid to take them on.

Missed a lot of this thread so apologies if this has been posted. The Swiss ramble has the women’s team as 4m for 23/24. I was told at the end of the 22/23 season that the budget for the women’s team for 23/24 was being increased to £10m which would knock £6m off the £12m over he claims we could be.

He would just increase our overall spend. Wouldn’t make a difference. You can ignore his numbers anyway as it’s a guess, might be right, might be wrong.

Imagine being the first club relegated by PSR because we have a lower threshold due to having been relegated due to a club failing PSR but being penalised the following season.

Also the club that was punished for trying to compete with the greedy 6, that failed to make the Champions League twice because other clubs with lots of money cheated Manchester *cough*

Points taken here. To defend Lox, his intention is to act as a news outlet for all fans. But I get it, if reports are unconfirmed and in this case highly emotional, it can spread negativity and toxicity among the fan base, which just divides us all and causes issues. We had a call-in show tonight and it makes me sad when I see callers call in who are genuinely sad and upset because of what is going on at our club. We don't want to flame the fires and make things worse for everyone!

We will take this onboard going forwards. As we sadly see in all aspects of life, Social Media can and does have huge ramifications. In this instance, I want to defend my friend again by saying it was not intentional to clickbait anyone! But we can do better, and hopefully we will do going forwards.

Don't listen to them mate, carry on as you are. It's quite clear that you're publishing a mix of reliability and rumour. If our fanbase can't differentiate between the two and get upset then they should get a life and that's coming from one of the saddest little men there is. Prats

No need to fly around insults mate. And Lox said it was from trusted sources, not a rumour on the video.

I really like the BTG content, especially the analysis. Fans are concerned as it is, and throwing around things like this make it more toxic. Your response kind of proves the point.

I'm not sure you make such a issue of the Sensi deal if you are massively over the limit, why worry about 1-2m if you are miles over.

I think we have shaded it.

Aside from the social media stuff I am enjoying a lot of the coverage on your channel. Keep it up

You live and learn. I wouldn't worry about it. On the whole it's a good channel. Every fan channel shares rumours, share 'ive been told' stuff. Heck look at this forum!! Sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong. It's a subject that all of us have an opinion on and worry about. PSR is like eating too many laxatives, it's a shower of poop. Our club is ran badly, and the combination has passionate fans speaking up, with some taking it too far.

We'll all find out tomorrow if it is us, I think. If it is, then we see what happens

Find it very odd that not one journo has had a leak as to who it might be. There's almost always a leak the night before so for it to be kept quiet all this time surprises me. Whether it's us or other clubs.

What if it's...nobody?

As in 'tomorrow would be the day to hear about charges if there are any, tune in to find out?' We find out a few are sailing close to the wind, there's lots of talk about 'Club X is going to have to sell big names in the summer' and we all have a collective coronary about Chelsea and Manchester City.

Yes it's much more than 4m. Believe they make a 7m loss
