I can well believe you. So I'm guessing Bilal wasn't Cooper?

Having managers pick players is such a short sighted system and leaves us in a mess when we get another manager.

The structure is clearly not working.

Whilst not totally disagreeing with your point, who do we have that you would trust !

Recruitment here - no one. But it should be a team of scouts recommending players to suit the style the club want to go for.

As it stands I trust no one.

not quite, it's over the initial contract, however if you extend you then spread the remaining book value over the new contract length. So say we signed a player for 20m on a 5 year deal. after 3 years his book value is 8m. if we extend that contract by another two years his amortized value goes from 4m/year to 2m/year as that 8m is then spread over the 4 year contract.

Not always as clubs can opt for player impairment as well sticking to the amortisation over the initial contract length.

true but you'd think a club in our place would look to increase it's psr headroom when renewing contracts.

that said, it's on the assumption of some financial accumen at the club and that might be an unjustified assumption at this point.

Was signed because having the same agency as Cooper.

Offered to the club when no scouting had occurred.

It's like Skipp. He was signed as Cooper had worked with him previously in the U16s.

We're clearing out Cooper's mess.

Absolutely shocking and speaks volumes for how we are operating as a club, everyone involved in sanctioning that deal should be sacked.

We are restricted in the transfer market as it is without making reckless decisions based on an agent recommendation and no scouting or due diligence, £13m spent on a whim.

Just another in a long line of bad decisions that are indefensible.

General you look to do it ot you are getting relegated say from the PL to Championship for example, and have head room your account for the current season.

You devalued your playing staff and count the amount as depreciation in the accounts, which then reduces your amount of amortisation for the following seasons accounts.

Useful if you are dropping into a league we tighter financal controls.

We do things that don’t even make sense. Like Iverson last summer. Reported bids, the club targets a keeper, bring one in, he’s awesome. The club strikes lucky and the under 21 keeper is a very decent deputy but we turn bids down.

First injury when 1 & 2 are out who starts ? ward. Like what have we kept him for.

The Choudhury deal shouldn’t be this difficult.

Same old issues without changes at the top.

If a player is throwing his toys out of the pram over a row about some football boots I'm not sure he should be involved in a relegation dogfight.  More likely he wants out anyway, rumours of being unsettled, and this was a convenient moment to make a push for freeeeeeedom.

Ruud needs to rattle some cages arou d this club, players are a bunch of wet wipes.

I'm more interested on the player whose salary went up from 70k to 100k despite not being a regular.  Absolutely abhorrent on that side of things.

I mean if my manager seemingly went out of their way to bollock me for something small/pointless like that when I wasn’t even involved I would be pretty pissed off as well

Slipping over constantly isn't ideal in an already calamitous defensive unit.  That said, me thinks there is a certain whiff of bullshit about that being the reason Okoli is demanding a move. And a certain air of complacent entitlement around the whole dressing room.  That was the same under Coopet as well.

But yes, take your point. If it was in fact an entirely unjustified rant or something over a pair of boots I can see why Okoli might be annoyed.

Maybe he has told him before to change them and the manager has been ignored ?

This seems likely.

RVN doesn't seem the type to lose his shit over something like that straight away so there probably is background.

Either way, lets not be hypocrites here.  The one thing these players need is a bollocking and if they can't handle it, then they can't handle a relegation battle so it's best they go.

Okoli's boots are the least of Ruuds problems, so for that I would call bullshit... But considering Ruud has no close coaching team anywhere he's been, it's probably exactly the kind of pointless shit he focusses on.

It is understood that Van Nistelrooy turned on Okoli, a £13 million summer signing from Atalanta, over his choice of football boots and insisted they made him frequently slip over.

Okoli was so stunned by the confrontation that he demanded a meeting with Rudkin and now appears certain to leave before the window closes

You really do wonder how much research was done in respect of several summer signings. Very little seems to have changed since summer of 2021 when players were brought in on big fees and contracts and didn’t become regular starters. I suspect the last minute striker signing was based on old information from his Celtic days. If I was the Chairman I really wouldn’t be impressed. Percy’s article is excellent
