Popular Post Bluearmyfox28 Posted 17 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 17 August 2025 (edited) I would be annoyed if we don’t utilise the Scandinavian market with Marti’s knowledge of the leagues, especially in the midfield department. Pivot: Pelle Mattsson (Silkeborg) - deep lying midfielder, plays in the base of midfield, often sitting between the centre backs. This boy is exactly what we need. Grit in the midfield he loves a tackle. You can tell he enjoys spraying the ball out to the wingers. Often looks to pass forward rather than sideways to break the lines. Great at recieving the ball on the half turn to keep things ticking forward. 24 years old, recently linked with Norwich for £2.6m. Perfect for the pivot role. https://youtu.be/pZRA3eqR4QY?si=OBntskfXhSpLPBfx&utm_source=ZTQxO Box to box: Noah Nartey (Brondby) - Box to box midfielder, great ball carrying ability, best attribute is recieving the ball under pressure and turning out to create an attack. Mainly based on the right side of central midfield, 19 years old. https://youtu.be/GqSzDk4ltL8?si=aBL7wEYtCt2ZI9fc&utm_source=ZTQxO Besfort Zeneli (IF Elfsborg) - Great dribbling ability, offers a physical presence with pace and power. Provides creativity from midfield but will get stuck in as well. He’s 6ft1, 22 years old should be a priority signing. @Ric Flair takes credit for this one. https://youtu.be/N7WwvMgWP3I?si=1JJKlQnQeJ3MNN7M&utm_source=ZTQxO A midfield 3 of Mattsson, Zeneli and Bilal would dominate the championship and probably available for no more than £7.5m. Players to keep an eye on: Pontus Dahbo (BK Hacken, 19 years old) - Box to box / Attacking midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dohl (Tromso, 19 years old) - Ball Winning Defensive midfielder Matias Siltanen (Djurgardens, 18 years old) - Defensive midfielder (Pivot) / box to box midfielder Keita Kosugi (Djurgardens, 19 years old) - High pressing left back. We can't be bringing any in unless we get some out, and nobody wants ours. VK, Thomas, even JJ and Coulibaly. Then there's also the question of why use Amass over Aluko given one of them is our player and the other probably wouldn't be available to buy. 3

Mattsson is a fantastic shout for the pivot role if Winks moves on. Saw the link to Norwich too, but with that not materialising yet, I’d try and steal in. He is also out of contract next year too, so highly likely he’ll move on this summer for a modest fee. If we don’t delve into the Allsvenskan market for a midfielder, I’d be quite disappointed tbh. There’s an intriguing cluster of young midfielders coming through. Zeneli, Siltanen, Karlsson(Hammarby) and Rosengren(Malmö) all having strong season’s. 2
Scotch Posted 17 August 2025 Posted 17 August 2025 There is absolutely no doubt that are FB's aren't good enough. I've been saying all pre-season that we need at least one more in but tbh, I'm starting to think it won't make a difference. Not in defence anyway. The way Marti uses his FB's we are always going to get caught out in the wide areas with a big switch on the counter because the fullbacks are up and in-field. We SHOULD at least make the most of it and have FBs that can attack though because just now we are leaving ourselves vulnerable whilst not gaining anything in attack either. 1

Every other team has FBs that can overlap & attack the space & control a ball!!

One fairly decent season at AK isn't evidence of undeniable quality. Last time he was in this league he managed 3 goals in over twenty starts. Obviously he's a couple years older now but still. Given he'd easily cost north of 15m, I'd definitely say it'd be a bit of a punt.

I've been suggesting people off the back of long term injuries on a free like Josh Dasilva as punts so this felt miles away
Les-TA-Jon Posted 18 August 2025 Posted 18 August 2025 Do we think we’re actually going to make any signings?

We love a player trained in England that’s done well in a foreign league. (Stephy, lookman, madueke). And I still think the clubs ego means we prefer that to a bargain like Kone
Torten Posted 18 August 2025 Posted 18 August 2025 Genuinely think Andros Townsend would do a job for us. Maybe Yaya Sanogo too
Philkeavo Posted 18 August 2025 Posted 18 August 2025 It's a frightening thought, but is it completely beyond the realms of possibility that we get to the end of this transfer window and all we've done is sell Fatawu, BEK, and Monga (to Real or Barca), get stuck with Winks#, Soumare, Faes, Vestergaard, Thomas, Choudhury, BDCR, Daka, and JJ? The absolute worst part of this is we might not sign or loan a single player to replace them. I hope this isn't a realistic scenario, but given the shambolic state of affairs, I genuinely don’t believe we’ve hit rock bottom yet. #As for Winks, he's a quality player at this level, but his blatant public displays of petulance make him a really disruptive and toxic influence on the rest of squad.

Can’t imagine joining us looks very attractive to any player at the moment. Mean, one simple bit of due diligence any representative would do for their client would be to scan the clubs social media and fan content… like Foxestalk. Are you recommending us as a destination for a client if you’ve glanced at some of these threads?
The Fosse Way Posted 18 August 2025 Posted 18 August 2025 Probably need to stop doing this to yourselves.
fox_up_north Posted 18 August 2025 Posted 18 August 2025 I genuinely wonder if they're thinking sell this season, stay in the champ and then push next season? Or sell once the dead wood is gone

Thankfully European clubs can't buy English-based players until they're 18. 1
