See here’s the biggest problem with our negotiations, we’ll hold on and hold on trying to get an extra 50p, but by the time we actually sell it’s too late to use the money.
Or he’ll stay, play another 5 games for the remainder of his contract and then walk away on a free.
Turning down £5 million for a player who rarely even makes the bench is utterly weird.

Thomas. A few posters said his contract expires in the summer but seen elsewhere it’s the following year.

I think you’re right. Looks like he’s got a contract until summer 2026

Ah right okay. Even so, he'll probably end up going on a free then either way knowing us.

Can’t speak for everyone but absolutely yes I’d be cracking out the good champagne, that’s 25m in psr terms

I have no idea if that’s right but would that mean for just 1m more it would be 30m in psr terms?

100%, but without knowing the break down of the deal, we don't know whether excepting it is the wrong or right to kick off about it not being excepted.

From Collomosse in the mail.....

Rudkin's desire to earn the best deal for Leicester is admirable yet his haggling can be counter-productive.
At the start of the window Sheffield United wanted Hamza Choudhury on loan with an option to buy. Leicester would agree only to a loan with an obligation – for a player on a hefty contract who is unwanted by the current manager. On Friday, Leicester agreed to a loan with option after all. Valuable time lost over a single issue, in a month when speed and flexibility are vital.

With the detail of the deals you can't really judge.

People are moaning we have only loaned him with an option, why wouldn't you try and stiff arm them.

Think as pure profit if we sign someone on a 5 year deal for 25 it averages out to 5m a year in psr terms

The only reason we would have to turn it down is that it would leave Kristiansen as the only natural left back at the club.

However, Justin and Ricardo can both play there if needed so I don't think that should hold it up.

By all means, if we think Hoffenheim will pay more then we should haggle but I would rather 5m euros in the kitty with a week to go than 6m with a day to go.

If what we end up with are the best deals, I dread to think what the starting positions are.

You’re spot on (assuming the £30m player signs on a five year deal) but remember that £6m is only covering one season of a £30m signing. It absolutely enables us to sign someone (or bank profit pending financial situation), but it isn’t the equivalent of a £30m signing in totality.

Hopefully you’d recoup most of that cost by wages leaving in the summer, sale of other assets, or increased revenue again from PL money.

Cool, not saying don’t take it but it then soon adds up for just a nominal (in premier football terms) amount more so worth trying to sneak a bit extra maybe especially if they are showing signs of really wanting him.

5m is a very fair offer.

Options are sell now, take 5m and his wages off the books.

Reject 5m keep paying him and let him walk for free next summer. Or knowing Rudkin, tie Thomas down to a 5 year contract on good money.

I hate Rudkin with every bone in my body but we can't have a go with him trying to finally get Hamza off the books with an obligation to buy

Depend on the break down of the offer, if its £10 upfront and the rest when they win the league not so much.

If its 5m upfront then 100%

I wonder what would be being said if it was just announced that we'd sold him for £5 million 🤔

Would it have been wild celebrations, congratulations and high 5s all round for Rudkin ? 🤷‍♂️

There’d be acknowledgement at a rare good decision being made.

He isn’t part of the plans clearly, pure profit, just let the lad go and have a fresh start ffs. He will just end up walking for free.

Such is the Leicester way.

Pretty sure academy players don't need registration under the age of 21. Since Thomas is an academy player himself, it doesn't really free up a space in the squad, except for an older academy player like maybe Raikhy or Opoku.

Less a squad position, more a position on the bench for an academy player

The wording "Proposal worth €5mill" and a subsequent knockback suggest that it's probably worth a maximum €5mill and it's nothing like that up front.

Also nobody is considering Thomas might not want to go.

Though he fxxking should.

I think he gets unnecessary hate on here.

He’s had some tortured performances for us. However people forget the ones when he’s had solid games. He’s unspectacular but at times, he’s more stable than the Kristiansen, who I think Is at a similar level.

He hasn't though....and that's the crucial detail.

that Literally means we can drop €25 Million euros on a signing over a 5 year contract

so wont be done because rudders wants €5.25 and wont budge and loses the deal “art of the deal by Jon rudkin”

You know we don't get 5 million a season , right ?.
