sheffield united surely go up next season no? I would have rather had in the champo sunderland next season ffs. Promotion looks even tougher now imo.

Think they will struggle again next season. Ended the season pretty rubbish in the end as well

Let's be totally honest we'll done to all the newly promoted teams but the prem isn't set up to allow them to stay .. they will all need massive amounts of spending to give them any chance and I can't see that happening,  its just all too predictable

Ipswich will fall back to mid table champ next season.

I know an Ipswich fan and he says exactly the same. Expected after such a piss poor season in the PL though.

If they keep their players then they will walk the championship.

Don’t know if it’s a great barometer what the fans say after a poor season given some of ours seem to think we’ll get relegated next season.

I expect Ipswich will still have Jack Clarke, Jacob Greaves, Leif Davis, Dara O’Shea, Axel Tuanzebe and Alex Palmer who are all very good players at that level. If Hutchinson stays too that’s another very good player there. Cameron Humphrys coming back from Wycombe is a good prospect in midfield, as well.

They might struggle at striker but Hirst is decent enough for the Championship.

It’s similar when you analyse our team and some of the prospects, it’s hard for me to see a scenario where either team aren’t battling for promotion, unless the window goes horrifically wrong for both.

Way too early to make calls like these.

We should know from the last two summers the difference decent (or otherwise) recruitment can make to a season.

In our case, even if we find a manager and a quality spine (keeper, centre-back, No. 10 and striker) from somewhere, we still have the threat of a heavy points deduction from a vindictive EFL to deal with.

Calling it now. Sunderland will break the record for the lowest points in the Premier League.

They are woefully unprepared to bridge that ever increasing gap.

Think we can say a ‘big 5’ of the three relegated teams, Brum and Sheffield United does seem likely. Think depending on a point deduction for us, that us and Ipswich should be the best of the 5, with a deduction that race for 2nd could be very interesting

Fair play, never thought for one minute it wouldn't be Sheffield United getting promoted.

Considering teams that breezed the championship have come straight back down this season, I dread to think how Sunderland will do, dont think they ever looked convincing in the Championship.

Oh well, big club so even if its just for a season, it will be good for them.

We would be up there I’m sure but we would come down even worse than this year if we got up, he’s another Rodgers, fine being the bully against shite but awful against any team as good or better than his

Depends, they could spend c. £150m like Villa, Fulham, Forest and Ipswich have done upon promotion and if they do well with it then they can give themselves a chance.

As far as I’m aware they’re in a decent position financially after changing the model over the last 5 years?

We need to use Souttar and Choudhury next season - decent championship players

If we are going to use them it certainly won’t be under Martin. Souttar is the best defensive defender we have yet he’s continually be outcast by clueless managers who want to pass it round at the back for 90 minutes and we look likely to bring in another

I find the implementation of VAR just for the final very unfair. The game must be played the whole season with the same rules. It's absolutely shocking how these people, these corrupted bureaucrats who don't know anything about football are ruining the sport.
