The broader market has us fifth behind Ipswich, Southampton, Sheffield United and Birmingham. This smacks of lazy ante-post predictions with very little money in the market.

1) Ipswich- Keeping their manager.

2) Southampton- Appointed a promising young manager.

3) Sheffield United - Came within a hair's breadth of promotion.

4) Birmingham - Loads of money and broke records in League One.

5) Us - Crap manager, uncertainty over his replacement and possible points deduction.

You can see the logic, but once Ipswich lose Delap, Sheffield United see loanees go back and lose Hamer and Birmingham realise they can't spend it all because of PSR, you can see movement in the odds.

Literally the only reason we aren't odds on is the looming points deduction.

When that is made -6 and we crush two teams in the opening week, we'll be booking a second bus full of Thai influencers down Granby Street before you can say DILLY DING DILLY DONG

Will be interesting to see how he does as i can't help but feel that he's just a social media trend who's become 'internet famous' under the myth of paving his management career solely from Football Manager.

Let's see how the Tik Tok sensation does.

Their insistance on paying over the hill players lots of money will be their downfall.

Birmingham have been chucking money about, but on young players with high ceilings.

Birmingham have said they expect to have the biggest budget of any teams not receiving parachute payments. Fully expect them to be challenging at the top

I'd be astonished if they are.  Given their squad they'll have to do very well in the transfer window, but anything's possible I guess.

Birmingham will get at least play offs.  Back to back promotions from League One has been done quite a few times and Birmingham come into the season in great shape.

We should be near the top, Southampton should be near the top, Sheff Utd will be near the top.  Let's see what happens to Ipswich in the transfer market, but would expect them to have a good season.  Birmingham will be in the mix for sure.

They are in better shape for the transfer window. Have good owners. Not like us with our cowboys

Nothing to do with three very solid seasons in an European top flight. Weird revisionist comments on him.

Did very well with Reims for two seasons, this season with Lens pretty standard

I still stick by the fact that the media & social media plastering the fact that a young manager has made a career out of playing Football manager is, rightly or wrongly, what made him a 'household name' for the football audience.

Not disputing his actual achievements and how well he has done. In truth, im slightly envious because I think he would be a good & exciting appointment who will continue to develop.

My comment was regarding what I feel has made him a 'household' name in football,  nothing to do with how well hes actually done.

Also we don't really have a 9 or a midfielder you could say is top level

A fair Blues fan I know says they are not the most physical of teams and thinks they will get bullied by some in midfield in particular

14/1 is great value on us at this stage. Nobody knows how the transfer market will play out. Taking all bias out of the equation, It just a well balanced risk for a squad like ours whoever is in charge

Bookies have us finishing 7th.

With Martin in charge it would be 7th from bottom

The top six next season I reckon.

1) Sheffield United

2) Ipswich Town

------------------------------

3) Birmingham City

4) Middlesbrough

5) Southampton

6) Coventry City

------------------------------

I just don't see us getting top six next season, unless we get that next management appointment right.

I will be surprised if we aren't top 4. The Championship is terrible. People forget that our crappy players like Faes and Vestergaard looked like Puyol and Maldini down there.  Sheffield United will lose some players. Ipswich will be up there, as well as Southampton. Don't see many others being stronger than us.

If we don't get promotion next year though, then we really are in danger of being stuck down there.

I don't think Coventry will be as high as they were this season.

And as good as Birmingham might be, be very surprised if they go as high as 3rd.

If we're not in contention for playoffs considering we're likely to have a points deduction (perhaps 7pts) I'd be disappointed. Otherwise it should be autos even with our average squad.

True, even with Ruud. I was there that game despite not seeing much due to the fog lol

I just want to enjoy watching football, RM is not our answer. Very unimaginative scouting from our club

I don’t think boro will be anywhere near there without a sensational summer.

I’d be surprised if we couldn’t make top 6. It’s understandable after a poor season but we’ve just beat Southampton and Ipswich somewhat comfortably, no matter how bad this season has been I don’t think the players are as bad as the majority think.

I think people forget just how horrific the management has been this season. Martin might be a painful watch but at least the players will know their roles and what they are supposed to be doing. This season has just been headless chickens from start to finish
