I suspect our problems stem from Top micromanaging the club and being too involved, we now have our own Vincent Tan.  He should set a vision for the club and then employ the people to implement it.  Instead, he's trying to run it and make crucial decisions and I suspect Rudkin just goes along with it; why bite the hand that feeds you?  Most of us here wouldn't turn down his salary and probably all the other perks along with it.

I want Rudkin gone but I don't think that will address the matter, maybe Top will bow to pressure and serve up Rudkin's head on a platter, but in this current climate, fans will want his next.

I remember being utterly speechless at the 14 seconds fiasco. I just assumed it was someone on the wind up and it had all gone through fine.

He should’ve gone after that

This is why teams like Chelsea give out 8+ year contracts, yes it sounds absurb but it protects assets from leaving on a free at the end of their contracts. If another team shows interest in a player that's performing highly they would have to pay big money to get them. But on the other hand you could be stuck with someone underperforming for a longer period of time.

Chelsea we're only giving out 8 year contracts as a psr fiddle so they could amortise the transfer over more years. We don't want to be dishing out huge contracts, we need to get back to basics and give out reasonable wages and contract lengths and look to sell players at the right time. Easier said than done but we just need an overhaul of our whole recruitment team from scouts, analysts, dof etc

That’s not why Chelsea give out long term contracts, they do it to fiddle the books.

Also, being certain you’re never realistically going to be relegated gives you certain privileges that the other 14 clubs can’t really take.

CITY AND GUILDS Director of Football Exam

Please tick only one answer.

Question One:

You beat a rival 9-0 at their gaff. How do then proceed?

A) Look back at the match, study what went well and try to repeat in future games?

B) Do nothing?

C) Buy or otherwise aquire, two of that teams defenders?

Ryan Bertrand is always disappointingly overlooked in these lists. £100k p/w for a bloke who couldn't run anymore and had no interest in the club.

I’m 4 years they have taken a side in the top 6 of the PL with multiple million pound sales, a marketing ploy you couldn’t buy, a squad packed with assets and flipped them to such extent nearest rivals who were at one time or the other in the relegation zone in the 2nd tier are both about to surpass them.

If someone told any fan, not just Leicester but any fan, including a happy clappy cuckold **** like Ginetta 4 years ago that we will potentially be below Cov and ****ing Forest, they’d laugh at you.

Here’s the lineup from our 5-0 win vs Sheffield united 4years ago.

We would kill to have even the players who got loads of stick - Timmy, Cags, Kel

It's not just the 9-0.  You could call that an aberration, a one off perhaps, but that Southampton defence had conceded the second most goals in the division.  So we went and bought 50% of it.

Not only that, we brought the wrong 50%

i think my favourite has to be signing two defenders who were part of the Southampton back four we beat 9-0.

Bertrand was past 30, Vestergaard approaching it. Not a problem though here’s 90k a week

It beggars belief and what's more, most of us (aside from those that always ignore the evidence and say "he hasn't kicked a ball yet" etc) could see it coming, because... well... they were either past it or nowhere near good enough and it was obvious.

It's a bit like Newcastle coming to us at the end of the season and asking to sign Faes and Justin.  Inconceivable.

Knowing us we’d reject their bids for them lol

Massively overpaying on transfer fees, wages and lengthy contracts to compensate for his deficiencies and the fact he is clearly out of his depth to operate in this type of role and at this level of football club.

I think the opposite is true. Top is probably barely involved at all which leaves a decision making vacuum with Rudkin in de facto control - which he doesn’t seem to realise hence the dithering and haphazard approach.

He looked ok in the charity shield, caught covid and was never the same. He was seen as a shrewd signing when he joined after Fuchs and Morgan left that summer.
