I loved Tunchev but having him in over Huth, with about 5 second tier appearances to his name, is absolutely insane lol

I think Savage is a bit underrated now. Always talked down. But a mainstay in a really successful period for us so couldn't have been that bad.

Looking back at some of the goals from that era too, some of his assists were good quality.

Oh and I found this. Some City ones in there. Some crackers actually, left foot, right foot. Better than what people, and himself, give him credit for.

Highly unpopular opinion: for his time, Sav was a better player.

Matty Jones probably would have been, too, if it wasn't for the injury.

Yeah he probably was. Think he is regretting some of his antics after he left, too.

I just like the King story of being a huge player in helping to turn the club around under Nige first time and, even as he became less prominent, still scored some huge goals (West Ham and Swansea in the Great Escape, Everton on the title day).

Before my time so one for the older generation to clarify but I would imagine Gary McAllister has to be up there. I caught the back end of his career and he was still class then, so during his prime he must have been superb. I think aside from the CL he’s won everything as well.

But during my time I would go with Elliott, then probably Dickov.

Didn't really need to be for his role though. We're obviously not comparing like for like and we're talking quite different eras.

But Sav was a solid upper mid table Premier League destroyer/disruptor that's played about 350 top flight games.

King was never really a Premier League quality player. If he hadn't been promoted with a side he'd never have made it to that level and when he did he had to settle for being a squad player. He wasn't really a first choice starter in the Championship let alone the Prem. He was, what, third, fourth choice? Fifth sometimes (Drinkwater, James, Cambiasso, Hammond?)

Lacked pace and athleticism and ultimately lacked a bit of vision and ambition in a playmaking sense too.

Ultimate professional and one of the most likeable players in our modern history where as Sav was a complete twat. I get why he's not remembered as King or a cult hero like Roberts but he's our best Welsh player in my lifetime I reckon.

It is mad when you think that he had a season in the championship where he scored 15 goals as a midfielder and didn't get a premier league move though.

I won't sat that Savage was better than King. I can't bring myself to say it as much as anything. You are correct that he was a better player for us than many would like to remember because he's a bit of a *****. A limited footballer by his own admission but was very effective in his role.

Whether or not Vardy is the best English player to have played for us is up for debate. However, he is undoubtedly the greatest player to have ever played for us, if that makes sense.

The whole Savage thing was totally needless on his part. He was popular here (voted Fans Player of the Season twice; I don't think Izzet or Vardy got one) and I don't remember much ill feeling towards him leaving. He got a reasonable reception with Birmingham then acted the prat. Could have nipped it in the bud but kept it going for the rest of his career. His own fault he isn't more liked.

King would have been great if we had a system similar to last season and he played a Dewsbury-Hall type role. Probably too lightweight and not quick enough for central midfield but the lad could get into the box and finish and link play neatly.

I don't care about what he did after he left, it was just pantomime stuff. I also didn't really care about what he said  about his time here (it would have been a pretty depressing atmosphere to work in).

What pissed me off is how he tried to act like the club meant something to him after we won the league. On Five Live, sounding like he was going to cry. It was a transparent attempt to get a bit of relevance on the back of us.

Self-serving *****.

I think people get a bit too carried away with how O'Neill would describe him. Can all joke he wasn't as technically gifted as the others, but you don't play as long as he did in the Premier League without being a Premier League footballer. He was instrumental in the success under O'Neill.

Shame he ruined it by playing for Derby, and he can **** off for kissing the Birmingham badge too. Then the joker has the cheek to act hard done by when we booed him.

I do laugh how he used to slam us at every opportunity in his punditry career until we won the league, then he very quickly became Ex-Leicester City midfielder Robbie Savage again.

We've had some very good Scottish players but McAllister is definitely one of the best.  Made the game look very easy at times, almost as if he wasn't trying.

For me Lennon would be the NI pick way over Taggert for eg but a quiet shout out to Derek Dougan who had a good couple of years with us.

Savage beats King hands down for Wales. just a better player in all respects really. King was ok but Savage actually made a difference to us on the pitch. We'd have been a different team without his energy.

Savage or King?

We used to groan when Savage's name was read out on the team sheet! Through O'Neill's perseverance and the quality of the players around him he grew into a great player for us. He had a lot to be thankful for, yet due to the type of player he was supposed to be he grew into the role and was a... I think he enjoyed it too.

I don't hold it against Savage though. He got a lot out of his career and is a household name as a result.

King was a fantastic servant. He was one of our better players for many years and could have played in the Prem much earlier in his career if he'd moved. He was loyal. He scored great goals. It could also be argued he made the absolute most of his ability to arrive late in the box and score goals. An ability that served him well and we all appreciated. But 6 Prem goals across 4 Seasons isn't enough for the type of player he was. Perhaps if we'd got into the Premier League earlier he'd have become an even better player than he was.

Therefore, I'd go with Savage. Just. And I hate my choice!

I was going off the list of countries on here and transfermarket for the nationalities.

It's more of a personal one if I'm honest..but he was part of a third placed world cup finish, and played a dozen seasons of European football.

Another player whose career was spoilt by injuries which he missed another two tournaments because of them. I could only imagine how good he would of being if it wasn't for three ACL injuries.
