He comes across really well (as most managers do Infront of camera) but he seems like a really sound person who have a clear identity and a really methodical approach, I just dislike his style personally, if he came here and said he's learned from his mistakes and he wants to keep possession but play more freely and attack more, i'd accept it. (He's not on my list at all, but I'm mentally preparing myself for him coming)

Mehmet Ali, currently head coach of Arsenal Under 21s definitely should be on the watchlist to be our head coach. Sets up with a fluid attacking 4-3-3 formation just like Arteta does with first team. Developed likes of Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly who now part of Arsenal's first team. Rather have someone leftfield as a footpath to be one of best as the project instead of known names without due diligence that don't really fit like panic appointments of Cooper and Van Nistelrooy were.

Agree other than 5 has done well everywhere they have been. Have done there time in lower leagues. Agree about the others.

Lot of manager can do the job in the lower leagues and not be able to transfer it to the higher levels.

I actually don't think he's a bad manager.  However, he's very much in the this is my personal brand of football and I won't change it for anything.  Which works better at very elite clubs and not us.  So i hope we steer well clear

What more can you do than succeed at every level you have managed at though? And where does new blood come from if those working their way up don’t get given a chance at the next level? This is how you end up with so many foreign managers and the merry go round.

That's what bothers me. It's precisely what I expect Top likes, and in line with his previous decision-making: short-termist (if we'd have to tweak the style upon promotion; see Enzo), possession-fixated (like Puel, Rodgers, Maresca, and to a lesser extent Sven and Ruud), presentation-fixated (they love someone who looks the part, has a bit of hype behind them, and brings their own determined 'brand' of football), Southampton-centric (like Puel, the Head of Recruitment, and many of the defenders we've signed or tried to sign since we put nine past them) and would appease the players who like to believe they're budding Man City stars (i.e. the ones who were fine at a lower level, but kicked and screamed and got a manager fired when they weren't allowed to play that way at a higher level, and whom - if we had an ounce of sense - we'd be marching towards the exit door now) . Maybe we can add the Buddhism to that list now.

 

I increasingly believe that the assumption should be that it's an awful appointment as long as it has Top's fingerprints all over it. Until there's an overhaul of the club staff, I wouldn't trust any of the conclusions they come to. In fact, I'd be inclined to presume them to be horribly misguided.
