CrispinLA in Texas Posted 10 April 2025 Posted 10 April 2025 Russell Martin..... don't know whether to laugh or cry. Top just loves ex Premier League managers. The board really can't seem to think outside the epl and look abroad or even in the lower leagues 🙄 3

God I hope he has changed his ways if he ends up here though, his football was a snooze-fest.  Oh FFS I've watched that and I think hes much less of a douche bag than I did before. Annoying.  No idea if Lineaker still has contact here or any influence what so ever, but you can see him recommending him to Top after that. 2

I watched Lineker interview Dyche and it sounded like Lineker really wants Dyche to get the Leicester job.Â

Silly really but I was surprised by his vocabulary, he comes across as an intelligent guy and very well prepared and planned. 1

It wears thin when you see that they don't walk the walk though. 3 1
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 11 April 2025 Posted 11 April 2025 Listened to it this morning, found it very interesting.  i would 100% take him over RVN and get the feeling as if he could talk himself into the job.  Sounds obvious, but our next appointment will be determined by who applies. He could end up being the best available option - especially considering he’s without a club now. 1
winteriscoming Posted 11 April 2025 Posted 11 April 2025 I’m sure we’re looking far and wide to find the next Iraola, Hurzeler or Glasner. So expect it to be Martin, Dyche or Gary O’Neil. 1

Comparing that to Ruud who is putting it on the players it was refreshing to hear.  We could do an awful lot worse.Â
Ricey Posted 11 April 2025 Posted 11 April 2025 If Martin has any sense he’ll go abroad. The tide is turning in this country on his style of play and I don’t think it will go down well with most fans. 4
Tielemans63 Posted 11 April 2025 Posted 11 April 2025 (edited) Whoever it is, bin off RVN now and get him in so that the new man gets the rest of this season to tell the dregs to find themselves a new club and so he gets the whole of pre-season - that's vital in my opinion. Â I'd go with Dyche. Don't get me wrong, the football will be horrific, but we need someone with an edge right now, someone who will have no problem telling senior pros that they're shit and they can piss off. I think we need a disruptor in the short term. Someone to clear the decks. Edited 11 April 2025 by Tielemans63
Nolucklcfc Posted 11 April 2025 Posted 11 April 2025 It’s just not long term with Martin at all. He might well get us up again but then what? How this style of play ever worked with a promoted team? Although dyche wouldn’t be ideal, I think we’d be more likely competitive with him and the experience he has at both levels.Â

Any promoted side now is going to be significantly weaker than the rest of the premier league, therefore the style of play just won’t work.Â

Yeah I think fundamentally although he has accepted some mistakes, ultimately in the interview he did say that if anything he believes in his style more than ever, so as much as it was a brilliant interview and he's better than Ruud. No thanks. Edited 11 April 2025 by cityfanlee23 1
teblin Posted 11 April 2025 Posted 11 April 2025 Can't shake the idea it will be Martin. Not saying I want him to be manager but it feels inevitable.

Haywood_6 Posted 11 April 2025 Posted 11 April 2025 (edited) I think it's highly likely to be Martin. He wouldn't be my first choice but Top will want us to become the Man City of the champ  Edited 11 April 2025 by Haywood_6

Lionator Posted 11 April 2025 Posted 11 April 2025 Martin who has learnt to become more pragmatic after his Southampton experience is fine by me. Football style evangelists either have to adapt or die (in a football sense) so if he’s open to adapting then that’s fine. If not then I don’t want him even near us.Â

Started managing at a young age think he did 8 years at AFC Fylde. Since then hes challenged himself at bigger clubs like Hartlepool Utd and Stockport County at the moment. Proved each time he can handle the pressure of the bigger club expectations. Can he handle and even bigger club like Leicester in the championship?Â
Aleksz Posted 11 April 2025 Posted 11 April 2025 Can’t be bothered on debating what I’m about to say because I know some of you feel really strongly about him, but I wouldn’t mind Martin. Spoke really well on MNF and Linekers podcasts in recent weeks, and he’d do really well with us at Championship level - he HAS to show a level of adaption at lower levels of the premier league though.  Order of preference for me: 1. Rosenior 2. Martin 3. Rohl  But I really like the shouts of Ancelotti and Cuesta too, two appointments in the mould/experience level of Maresca. Restart that process that would have worked out so much better than the current one.Â
