I pray Martin ends up at Rangers.

Gerrard going there!

back RM he’s in the dugout for next season!

I’m not convinced at all by Martin after the way he managed Southampton. His stubbornness to keep playing out the back when his players clearly lacked confidence and ability is just disastrous.

we need a manager that can sort our defence out once and for all. Start with the basics. Then go onto play some master class with our midfield (still don’t have anyone to replace Vardy up top).

I’d like to feel excited about next season but can’t help feeling really nervous and worried due to our manager situation, PSR fines, no Vardy, potential sale of star players, fatawu still injured/out of form, uncertainty over youth players, Rudkin & co still in charge of cocking things up. The club has hell if a lot of convincing to do and get right next season (dred)

There’s not an ounce of sentiment from the Southampton fans. You’d be very hard pressed to find positive words from them… which for someone who got promotion is quite rare

When the interview process repeatedly results in the appointment of a person who subsequently fails in their position, then either:

  • there were no suitable candidates, or
  • the selection process was flawed, or
  • the interviewers were incompetent

Take your pick.

What makes you think we interview?

I’ve just listened back to Martins the rest is football interview. Talking about how detailed Jason Wilcox (now at Man Utd) was at saints, two interviews, several hours, told him what he wanted to present back on.

There’s no a chance we’ve ever asked a manager to do that.

If you're correct then the selection process was flawed, in my opinion.

Martin isn’t even the best ex Southampton manager available. Hassenhutl or Selles I’d rather have.

Given the situation that the next manager will be inheriting, whoever it is will deserve a level of respect for taking the job on and should be afforded support from the fanbase. Russell Martin would be a tough sell undoubtedly, but as with any new manager, they should always be given a chance.

Yep would take Hassenhuttl right now. Southampton are still trying to recover from him being sacked. The obvious Leicester and United was it? thrashings were embarrassing, but he was keeping them above water make no mistake.

The point to add to this as well, is that we're certainly not in the situation to be picking and choosing unfortunately.
