Whys it very unlikely?

His abject failure with a club of a similar size to ourselves in the PL last season. Our reported interest was a fiction created by Russell Martin’s agent to pressure Rangers to move quickly.

Imagine if Ruud (quite rightly) turns around and says in a few weeks..."nah"

Can’t see him losing a few million. Just keep him we’re going to struggle to get promoted with any point deduction so just let RVN do it till this blows over

RVN really convinced top and rudkin he could get man utd/real madrid loans

the manager we go for will be the best blagger because top and rudkin fall for it.

To be fair, they promised him funds for transfers in the Jan window, but then reneged on that. I wonder whether the new Finance Director we appointed in November '24 put a stop to it all.

I'd agree if our club had shown any sign that they look further than the next 12 months when making decisions

Did Kevin Davies lose his job then after Simon Capper went to Newcastle?

Think I may of got confused here. He went from a Financial Controller position to the Financial Director role, and it was June not November. I've had a senior moment there!!!

Think it was summer 23 too. The poor sod will have plenty on his plate, and as an internal promotion probably doing it all for an extra £20K a year the cheapskates.

Easy to misconstrue fella isn't it? Bit like how you've accepted that 'just because you never know who the manager/players are going to be going into a new season,' that somehow it's acceptable to you that they can rinse people of their money when we get zero communication. That's not how life works mate, maybe hold them accountable!

For the record, I attend I just don't have a season ticket, surprising as it may be...that's not the golden key into watching games live.

I mentioned knowing how much was to spend, who we may be selling/buying and possible managerial changes.

No club gives fans that information.

I was aware that not everybody that attends has a ST. I wood describe a ST as a golden key into watching line games if you want to attend home and away both here and recently in Europe. Is there a way of getting a ticket to away euro games without a ST and priority points?

Sure, but since the Thais have been in charge, how many times have we recruited a manager whose previous job ended in spectacular failure? I can't think of one off the top of my head. People were talking as if recruiting Martin would have been a typical King Power move, but it would have gone completely against the grain. They've always gone for either well-known managers whose stock is still pretty high or novices whose reputations haven't even been established yet.

On the managerial rumour mill more generally, Rob Tanner had some interesting comments the other day. He confirmed what most of us have long suspected: when somebody is being interviewed for a manager's job, their agents routinely put out false stories of interest from other clubs to make their man seem in demand. The media outlets that regurgitate these stories (Football Insider, TalkSport, etc) tend to be those that heavily pressure their journalists to land scoops (and therefore publish stories on the flimsiest of evidence). Hence the Russell Martin stories. Tanner also commented that only two people - Top and Rudkin - will have any idea what our plans are for recruiting a manager, and neither of them speak to the media. So if we wake up tomorrow and there is a strong rumour linking us with another name, it's very likely to have come from an agent unless the journalist reporting it is highly credible.

Wanting Carrick, Wanting Martin, Wanting RVN to stay, Wanting Dyche(less so as I think some do want him) is just people not liking being kept in the dark, like the uncertainty is worse than actually getting the decision wrong.

Ranieri? lol

He didn't do well in his brief stint at Greece but he did ok at Monaco, which was his last club side before joining us. Also, I'd say his body of work over his whole career meant that his stock was still reasonably high (and I speak as somebody who was not happy when he was appointed). Not really comparable to Martin.

No, not comparable, but question was about hiring a manager who failed in his previous job and Ranieri did (granted it was International football).

Maresca was in place 16th June, that isn't going to happen this time.

The season starts on 8th August, assuming we get the new man 1st July, he'll have 38 days as a pre-season.

The boards has played a blinder this time.

Not spectacularly failing but Puel and Smith left their previous clubs after poor runs of form. Cooper was still popular yet Forest were in atrocious form.

This can’t be true, didn’t they also in this paper say we’d get -12 points or something.

if it is true, back him, get an experienced assistant with him and crack on. But that shouldn’t be the case.

Almost like it'd Ruuds fault that we gave him that contract clause.

Clubs a joke. I don't think he's a particularly good manager, but I feel  somewhat sorry for how he's been treated too.

We'd scraped a few points under Cooper, and with his experience, probably would've picked up a few more, but we were never going to stay up with the squad we'd got. No doubt Ruud was told we'd support him in January, then told mid January, sorry the accounts are worse than we thought. Since then he's been scapegoated.. yea his tactics and selection hasn't been the best, but he's hardy got a hand to play with this squad has he.

I've gotten to the point where I despise the leadership of the club, but as a lifelong fan I'll back whoever we chose to manage us.. whether that's Ruud or a new appointment.. the main thing is, as fans we need to know who we are supporting right now!

Top stop hiding and bring out a statement you spineless tosser

He was pretty meh at Inter before Monaco, he also managed a Monaco side with a shit load of money half of which he managed in Ligue 2
