Ruud hasn't managed us in the lower leagues , and has a relatively promising record in a short period in holland. He took over us when we were in the shite in a situation that was always going to have poor points and poor goal difference. He did this with no transfer funds (apparent from a bargain basement defender) and without being able to employ his own staff. McKenna spent big, and had his well oiled staff with him, and was terrible this calendar year. Proper terrible. Yet, somehow, he is just fine. For the record, i'd rather we get Rohl (although Rosenior was the one i really wanted). But i can see us getting Rohl anymore, and i think we are in danger of going down a really crap path if we aren't careful. Part of me thinks would rather stick with what we have and give him the right tools. Here’s a question designed to look at things from a different angle…. If you were say a Middlesbrough fan, looking for your next manager, how happy would you be to be linked with Ruud? 1

He's ticks virtually every box for what I think they would go for. I'd have been quite open to Carrick a couple of years ago but too many red flags for me - hint of the Martin without being as irritating or as extreme. 1

I stand corrected with regards to Dyche's availability when Cooper was sacked, but the reason behind my post was more to quantify my belief that a half decent manager with better tactical awareness, team selections etc. but most importantly more experience would have done better then RvN and that it wasn't a foregone conclusion of our demise once Cooper was sacked. That was my real intention. My post was more about the better "attributes" needed and if we had actually found them in a manager, ( I suppose to back up my statment,) and how we could hypothetically have faired better, then suggesting a name of one. I think you may have taken my use of Dyches name a little but to literally here my friend.

I am not one of Nigel’s love child’s like many on here but I really don’t get all attraction to DR - what has actually achieved ……personally I would rather get someone who knows how to get out this division the right way via promotion. or someone who has an affinity to the club and certainly not someone who may see us as a stepping stone to bigger things …. Think he brought a club in disrepair together and gave them a goal that they pushed towards, like Nige

bald reynard Posted 16 June 2025 Posted 16 June 2025 Carrick has come in, in the betting today - now 4/1 from 7/1. Rohl and Dyche gone slightly out. Probably not significant, but interesting.

AKCJ Posted 16 June 2025 Posted 16 June 2025 If it's going to be Ruud then just say it. That's what's doing my head in. Assuming the club hasn't actually all gone on holiday (knowing this set of clowns, they probably have), I'm assuming that Rudkin is working with the scouting department to look at potential new signings. But what player is looking at us and thinking corrr yeah i'll have a bit of that? Probably only over the hill wingers that fancy getting £60k a week. 1

richardsfoxes Posted 16 June 2025 Posted 16 June 2025 Can't believe how quiet it is, not just on the manager front but usually we are being linked with 100s of players we're not even getting that, really weird.

As alluded to earlier trying to shift the deadwood will be the problem. Seriously, we need to get rid of Faes, Christensen, Vestergaard, Soumare, Winks, De Cordo Reid, Ayew, who would want them? Thats, the problem. Nobody will come in for any of them unless we pay up their contracts. (which we won't do PSR). Stuck with them.

If it was they'd have released a statement backing him and we'd be doing business. It's painfully obvious we're just fully paralysed until 1st July. Although it is interesting we've not sold anyone either and nor has there been any major movement or rumour around Mads, Bilal etc. We don't seem panicked about the 24/25 books but we do seem unwilling to spend any more. 3

If we were desperate then like you said, we'd have pushed Mads and Bilal out the door like we did with KDH. Could we not put him on gardening leave if we wanted to sack him? 1

I guess outside of the extra FIFA window, today is the first actual day of the transfer window, so might start to see some movement I know people announce before but knowing our lot we might actually be back from holidays today!

There's currently nothing happening, I assume the playing and coaching staff are still on holiday. There's functionally nothing different between the current situation and him being on gardening leave except the second option involves a lot of attention and noise.

I don't think they'd have released a statement (clubs don't usually release statements to say that a manager is remaining in post). However, I think they'd have leaked it to the media and we'd know about it. So I agree that we're basically paralysed until 1 July. I also agree that we don't appear too anxious about 24/25 accounts. I don't get the impression we'll be forced into a fire sale of key players, but will probably operate on a 'sell before we can buy' basis this summer, which seems sensible. So now there's just the small matter of finding buyers for Faes, Soumare, Kristiansen, etc... 1
