Dan Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 He's been very good for us on the whole, definitely a drop off in the last few years but still think he's probably our best midfielder now even despite this. Been part of enough good times to go with a bit of a blessing, but it's the right time. Find it interesting nobody bothered a year ago for free but after a pretty nothingy year, a year on he's managed to bring in a fee. 2
LestaLad Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 “Beşiktaş has sent contracts to Wilfred Ndidi. The player's side is reviewing the contract. Official signatures have not yet been made.” 1
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 Why do our players have such an inflated opinion of themselves. Wilf is made for Turkey at this stage of his career. Even going there I think he'll fizzle out very quickly a la Soyuncu/Amartey. 1
kingpowerout Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 do we know if his clause has a time limit on it or not? Trying to figure out if this one might drag on to deadline day or not?

Probably not opinion based, probably more down to the reality of living in Turkey with his family which can’t be easy. This also has tax implications doesn’t it? At that fee we would obviously want it to happen, but the person needs to agree to it.
MC Prussian Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 Wilfred Ndidi, the man who regularly won most balls back. Mainly because he had lost them in a majority beforehand. Getting a transfer fee in at this point of his (fading) career is nothing short of a miracle. 2

As others have said, he was one of the best in the league at this for a few seasons and this helped contribute to our success. He definitely had his faults but under Rodgers, his job was very clearly win the ball back and play it simply to a better ball player. Agree re the second part, and it doesn’t make sense considering he was free last year. I’d wonder how much of his wages we are paying and this is really about the PSR impact of a big fee. 1
Bablemikey Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 He's been a terrific asset to us over the years. Owes us nothing, but it's time for him to go. 2

That was in the past , The problem is giving players that were good long inflated contracts their ability doesn’t deserve. He was good, when we had better players. He is now rubbish with rubbish players around him. We need better, could do with the funds and get him off the wage bill.

But he only did that well for a short period. As a defensive midfielder everyone will forgive you as long as you keep your shape and don’t give the ball away. He did alright at that for a bit, but it’s no coincidence that we were completely outfought by any team who didn’t just let us play. He was hardly a dominating midfield general, and he’s been anonymous for large parts of his time here. Teams cut through our midfield unchallenged because he wasn’t doing his job. It’s been at least 4 years since he’s shown any sort of consistent form. He’s an incredibly lazy player as well which makes it very hard to warm to him. 1
Gerard Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 2 hours ago, AKCJ said: You need to be a physical beast to make up for a midfield containing James Maddison and Youri Tielemans and he undoubtedly was. Best years for us is when Brendan played him as a No6 and played Tielemans and Maddison as No8's. Under Puel he partnered Mendy and Maddison was struggling as a No10 as the opposition done everything to shut Maddison down and allowed Mendy and Ndidi more of the ball and they were ineffective with it. When Ndidi played as a No6 behind Maddison and Tielemans it just worked because now the opposition couldn't just focus on Maddison as Tielemans was so effective and with no Mendy in the team Ndidi had to pick up the slack defensively so was asked to do more of what he was good at and less of what he wasn't good at. It was no coincidence those were our best years after the title but then Brendan eventually partnered Tielemans with Ndidi rather than Maddison to our detriment. 2

I dont disagree, my reply was clearly responding to the criticism that he only needed to win the ball back because he gave it away in the first place. The only bit I disagree with, is what I’ve highlighted. Review our win percentage with/without him in the championship. 1

iancognito Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 Sky still mentioning interest from Everton. If Moyes is as deperate for a bigger squad as is being suggested, he'll be holding out for that deal. You don't go to Turkey if there's PL interest.
Pliskin Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 I’m not going to be speaking ill of Wilf, he’s been a great servant and has had some excellent moments for us. He has reached his ceiling with us, and needs to move on. We’ve definitely had the best of him, and for his own benefit, and for our financial fragility, it’s time for Wilf leave with our thanks and well wishes! 3
MPH Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 It feels like Turkey has become the new MLS. Or maybe it’s always been that way… but it’s got to be seen as an end of career move if he goes there, surely…
kingpowerout Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 if there is genuine interest from Germany or the Prem then I'm not surprised he's delaying making a decision on moving to Turkey
les-tah Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 Hopefully we can just go and use this money and get someone else now as he is either going Beskitas or somewhere else and 100% not staying here. 1
baldeagle Posted 4 August 2025 Posted 4 August 2025 Will Everton go for Wilf if they are signing KDH highly doubt they will sign both .

Much better calibre of player is going there not just at the end of their careers. 2
