Dear God it was a joke. As if anyone would dismiss what MON did for us because of one match.

Apologies the O’Neil talk got very confusing.

Rohl is 20/1 for the Brentford job. Interestingly, McKenna is currently favourite at 5/4.

Keith Andrews (a Coach there - the last remaining one, with Frank taking the others) is odds on favourite for Brentford now (1/5!).

McKenna down at 5/2.

Dont think Rohl will come here, Brentford need a new manager, they could go for Rohl,

they could go for McKenna from Ipswich and they could go for Rohl,

think this ship will sail sadly as this club are idiotic

With Andrews so hot now, it sounds like McKenna will stay at Ipswich and Rohl will still be looking for a new job. I really hope we're still in the frame.

Don't think it's as easy as that. Brentford are a very data driven and analytical club so will choose their next manager based want metrics they are looking for.

They could very easily look abroad and probably will, don't think Rohl and Mckenna will be early favourites.

McKenna sort of has been but probably has a high release clause

These could be the reasons Brentford might have decided to stick with an internal appointment.

Frank joined the club as assistant and was promoted to manager, so they have some history in that department.

Massive step to take when all other coaches of Frank's has departed. I know the circumstances for such a job often don't come with all the support ideally required but if I were Brentford I'd be wanting something more credible.

Could Keith Andrews be a shout for here if he doesn't get the promotion?

With all the talk of Rohl POSSIBLY being lined up (thanks, FoxinNotts), shouldn't this thread be up amongst the current stuff? It's been nearly a week since anyone has posted on it. It does give the history of our chat about him.

It's interesting that he was first linked (by the Yorkshire Post), as long ago as 1 May.

Am I missing something with Danny Rohl?

He's hardly ripped it up at Sheff Wednesday has he?

Yet he seems to be the name that most would be happy with.

Danny Rohl has a very high ceiling and done a very good job at Wednesday plays a brand of football we would all like and he can adapt! But he does have a few red flags. Does make you wonder tho why no one has come in for him unless the notts bloke is right and we have agreed personal terms with him already and we’re just waiting to get him out of Wednesday.

He has been treated poorly, players haven't been paid. Yet in his first season when they had 1pt, he saved them from relegation and finished mid table with more or less the same team last season.

I think that is quite an achievement and deserves the next step. Whether that is with us, I'm yet to be convinced.

The fact he’s kept Sheff Wednesday up with a league one playing staff and an owner who doesn’t pay anyone…….

What Rohl achieved when he took over at Wednesday would be similar to Juric keeping Saints up this past season.  When he took over, they were having the worst start to a Championship season on record.  They hadn't won a game and were on 3 points.  To go with all the shit going on behind the scenes, he's not done too badly.

This. Some people seem to think success is promotion and nothing else. Context has to be taken into account. As I said further up, in the season 23/24, the job Rohl did at Sheffield Wednesday was significantly more impressive than Maresca with us or Martin at Southampton, both who have promotions to their name as a result.

Money money money I know, but if Rohl wants to come here on presumably a better wage, why can't he just quit his job at Wednesday?

Suppose there's a chance that their nutjob owner would try and sue him but with the state of Wednesday, I think Rohl would have a pretty strong case for quitting.

Presumably the terms of his contract would prevent him from joining another club for an extended period after quitting - possibly even for the full duration of his contract. Otherwise release clauses wouldn’t be worth the paper they’re written on.

Yes.

So am i right, he has manged one club in his career, Sheff Wednesday, and his claim to fame is he has kept them up, in what is a weak and shite division.

In the mean time, Norwich have recently appointed Liam Manning, and Middlesbrough, having got rid of Carrick, decided to go for Rob Edwards who had took Luton down, both were linked with Rohl, but both went somewhere else.

Hull City have gone for Jakirovic after getting rid of Ruben Selles, and Sheff United have opted for Selles.

I know that Sheff Wednesday will want compo to get him out of the club, but certainly Boro, Norwich and Sheff United, will have all been able to pay that compo if they had deemed him good enough.

To be fair, i suppose this where we are at now, at a point where just a statistically average manager is seen at a great fit for us now.

It`s all so very sad.

For me, after the disaster of last year, putting aside the doom and gloom, there is some hope. We still have talent to excite us. Who stays is always a question but essentially you want someone to come in, strip the fat and grow with the talent we have here.

As I said, depends who stays and no guarantee but a list of:

Nelson

Thomas (yes, Thomas)

Mavididi

Fatawu

BEK (very much a likely leaver)

Jacob

Okoli

Souttar (for this level)

Justin (for this level)

Woyo

Alves

Monga

Evans

Aluko

Ndidi (another very likely leaver)

Hermansen (likely leaver)

Winks (can’t forget what he did at this level last time)

Mcateer

etc

Just looking at that, even with the likely leavers, sprinkle a bit of the ones we wouldn’t mind leaving who will just happen to stay because we simply can’t get rid and for this level it’s already a very competitive base.

You want a manager who these guys get buy into like many did with Enzo.  From the likely candidates, I think that guy is Rohl and with Powell as a potential assistant, a calming voice for what will be a season where we need many to gel almost immediately.

You're continuing to miss the point about Rohl.
