ALC Fox Posted 13 January Posted 13 January I think just having his negativity out the door is the biggest priority. We need to be sounding out other suitors in case Monaco don't follow through with the option, though. Next up, Winks hopefully

It's only because we've had a decade of Rudkin we have this Stockholm syndrome. We saw it in the summer, nobody would possibly pay that much for El Khanouss/Justin/Ndidi - they did. We know Faes is shit but that's after years of watching him make mistakes in a poor team. Other club will recruit for specific position/skill set in a certain budget, Monaco will probably have kept tabs on him in France. Or it could be they just haven't done enough due diligence on the deal but with a loan with an option, it's risk free. Bad players get offloaded all the time, it just requires clubs to freeze players, get their agent working hard and alerting the market and the press they're available, it's just we have a beyond useless DoF. CAn't say for certain but I feel as though Monaco would have bought him for £4m now but because we just can't negotiate they've came out of this deal with no downside at all (bar having Faes). I half expect him to do well just Justin, Perez, Tielemans etc have after leaving - even though they were a busted flush towards the end here. We've got a couple of players I can see leaving the club and doing OK at teams in Europe's top seven or so leagues. People can laugh all they want but Faes, Okoli, Kristiansen, Daka (yes really) and Mavididi probably all do pretty well with a fresh start somewhere else. I reckon even Soumare under the right circumstances, Sevilla was definitely above his level but that's not saying much. If not in Italy, Germany or Spain then you could see most of that lot thriving at least in Portugal, the Netherlands, Turkey, France, Belgium, etc. 5
TheGoldenGod Posted 13 January Posted 13 January ...so he'll be back after Monaco realise he's horrid then. 1 year left after that, hoping and praying someone takes him for cheap in 6 months!
Reg Vardy Posted 13 January Posted 13 January He is a Belgian international, Monaco have just signed him, so evidence would suggest he can play, we just couldn’t get him to…… The savings on wages let’s say 26 weeks @ £60k £1.5m…..even if they don’t sign him in our current financials make this worth doing and opens up other signings Fofana left the club under a big black cloud, and got booed……he didn’t want to be here either…… looks as good a deal as we could hope for 1

Soumare has ligue 1 written all over him, its just getting someone to take a punt 2
AjcW Posted 13 January Posted 13 January There's every chance he looks absolutely fine in League 1 Issues will arise when he lines up again Real Madrid and Juventus in the next 3 weeks..... 4

Groby_Blue Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Monaco are in the middle of a defensive crisis so they sign Wout. Great work by their Dof, Jean Le Rudkiin. 3

The Kristiansen example is a great one. More clubs would look at that stint as basis to sign him than not displacing Luke Thomas. Other clubs don’t follow targets like a fan does their own player 3
Pliskin Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Did they just AI a load of clips of Puyol and make him look like Faes?

DerbyshireFox Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Just get him out, whatever it takes. Just a shame it’s not an obligation to buy! So many errors, it’s hard to pick a worst of! Two og’s at Anfield - the second in particular was special, a one man kamikaze at home to Forest last year stick out in particular. Takes no responsibility for the mistakes he makes, and blames everyone else. Would genuinely prefer some of the dross we had in the mid 2000’s and L1 over him. I’d say it’s been a pleasure watching him in a blue shirt, but it really hasn’t 😂 1 1

Dan Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Like I say - same old. Minimal benefit but typical of us. Southampton for all their faults manage to shift absolute dross for loads.
