Forgive my ignorance, but what is a ‘Renoir’ in this context?

I think in Belgium if somebody calls you a 'Renoir', it is invariably sarcastic and is intended to suggest you are unattractive—ie, no oil painting.

Wout Faes is actually a complete b@stard.

The club as a whole will be so much better off not having a character like him around.  One of the blackest stains on Brendan Rogers time here was this bloke replacing Fofana.

For those who have been following the saga, is hfaes actually Wout himself pretending to be his own aunt?

It wouldn't surprise me.

Forget that sometimes. He was brought in to replace Wesley Fofana. What a downgrade. I mean we’ve had a few over the last few years but that has to be in the top 5.

Foot Mercato first reported that Leicester City defender Wout Faes (27) was nearing a move to AS Monaco on Monday evening. Nice-Matin now report that the deal has moved rapidly, to the extent that he is already training with his new teammates at the Principality club on Tuesday morning.

As reported by L’Équipe, Faes’ move to Monaco is expected to be a loan with a buy option estimated to be worth between €5-10m. His signing comes amid a defensive crisis at the Principality club. Mohammed Salisu is out until the end of the season with an ACL injury, Christian Mawissa is out for several weeks with a muscular injury, and Eric Dier has only just returned to fitness, having hardly played a minute of football since the start of October.

Reinforcements are therefore a must. Faes’ move to Monaco is now completed, Nice-Matin understands. He is even already in training at the club’s performance centre in La Turbie this morning.

Incredible deal for him, some players are just plain lucky.

Involved in two relegations, makes a number of errors this season in the Championship, pisses off the fans to the point that they despise him, not involved in the first team in a team mid table in the second tier and still blags a move to Monaco, not only a very good team, but in an idylic location. Bro should downright play the lottery at this point, but he's already a millionaire!

If they are desperate please tell me we got a decent loan fee and wages covered? Can anyone clarify?

We are Leicester City and Lord Rudkin is still in charge so the answer to both questions will likely be no.

Sadly only an option to buy but will take the positive in that he's out of our squad and hopefully one less issue to deal with therefore, and some wages off the books.

One can also hope Monaco take up the option and we get a fee in summer, and wages are off permanently. Can't imagine they're low either, probably £60-70k/w?

Won't miss him at all. He's become a right arsehole in the last 12-18 months.

Half-arsed performances, cupping his ears to the fans after scoring. Not to mention his standard reaction after a goal is scored, even if he's at fault - arms outstretched by his waist, looking around for someone to blame. Sadly no mirrors around for the answers.

But other than that what has he done wrong?

Wonder if he has time to get into the Belgian squad ?

that’s a big carrot and may concentrate his attitude to succeed out there.  I wonder if the option fee is loaded on things like ligue 1 appearances and selection for the world cup squad. seen quite a spread on option fee.  From our perspective we might be thinking if he makes it to the states and actually performed then we’d get €10m from somewhere.  We may have turned down an obligation at €5m !

On here there is this reverse exceptionalism that our shit players are literally the worst in the whole world and nobody would ever buy them. It's only because we've had a decade of Rudkin we have this Stockholm syndrome.

We saw it in the summer, nobody would possibly pay that much for El Khanouss/Justin/Ndidi - they did. We know Faes is shit but that's after years of watching him make mistakes in a poor team. Other club will recruit for specific position/skill set in a certain budget, Monaco will probably have kept tabs on him in France. Or it could be they just haven't done enough due diligence on the deal but with a loan with an option, it's risk free.

Bad players get offloaded all the time, it just requires clubs to freeze players, get their agent working hard and alerting the market and the press they're available, it's just we have a beyond useless DoF. CAn't say for certain but I feel as though Monaco would have bought him for £4m now but because we just can't negotiate they've came out of this deal with no downside at all (bar having Faes). I half expect him to do well just Justin, Perez, Tielemans etc have after leaving - even though they were a busted flush towards the end here.
