If I’m Winks or Vestergaard I’m telling my agent to get me out asap with Ruud still there. get me out of here to a club foolish enough to match my wages?

justfoxes Posted 3 June 2025 Posted 3 June 2025 Have we dodged the bullet if he goes to Rangers ? And please don’t give Rudkin Ideas even mentioning Rooney’s name on here ffs you know he’d put the call in !!

Winning a title with the recent imbalance in the Old Firm is some doing and was a really impressive achievement.. 2

They were a complete mess when he left and have improved beyond recognition under Emery since.

The point I was arguing was that you can't just beat "the rest" with Rangers and come back down South with a better rep than when you left..

Dan Posted 3 June 2025 Posted 3 June 2025 I completely forget about Gerrard's Villa reign. I did think he'd be better than he was. Looked well out of his depth. As stated his Rangers job gets a bit underappreciated.

Was up against a Celtic side led by Neil Lennon though Had an awful record in the cups too up there

Corky Posted 3 June 2025 Posted 3 June 2025 Glad he won't be joining. No idea why Rangers want him, seems totally unsuited to it.

Coming 1st in a 2 horse race when the only competitor had a mare season and won nothing for the first time in a decade doesn’t cut it really. If he was that good how did he become so bad overnight?

I've said I think he's limited!! But he did a good job up there.. I don't think your initial point about if Martin beats the also rans he returns with an enhanced reputation is correct.. Most managers that have been chopped by Rangers haven't gone onto bigger or better things despite doing just that.. They'll want to push Celtic close, especially with this US investment. It's not a gimme of a job.. 1

The only ones in favour of the appointment clearly hadn’t watched Southampton play beyond their matches against us.
