On the train on the way back from  Matlock Town v Consett 3-0 home win.

Great day out, few beers & fish n chips at Matlock Bath followed by an entertaining albeit one sided game at the most picturesque of all non league grounds.

I'm beginning to love Saturdays when City haven't a game.

Boro just need one point to clinch the league title and for some reason we have made are right meal out of that. Lost 0-2 to Atherstone and then just been battered 0-3 at Coventry United. No win in six I believe, for a really good season ending it on a whimper. Go to go to Northampton next saturday and hope we do the the job there. As some fans have pointed out a lot of decent players have left over the last few months and we haven't really replaced. The ones brought have been good enough. Shame the last two games have seen a huge increase in crowds, 1,500 at home against Atherstone then, over 500 travelled to Coventry today.

Grace Dieu v Coalville yesterday. £5 on the gate, beer in hand, sun out, terrible game. Loved it.

I noticed the Retford derby, in coalvilles division was 1st against 2nd and attracted a crowd over 1000, pretty great for step 6.

STEP 3

Harborough are a win away from champions and promotion. I reckon they might go hybrid part-time/full-time next season.

Quorn are slightly falling away from the play-offs after a stinky result at Stamford yesterday. Saving grace is that they have Redditch on the final day of the season.

Barwell could be down next week.

STEP 4

Nomads went top yesterday. Albeit on goal difference, they finally hunted down Carlton.

Shepshed's playoff bid looks like it's just going to miss out.

Loughborough Students done their traditional escape act. Still could be caught though.

STEP 5

Melton & Ashby put some wins together to get away from relegation issues. Ashby could still be dragged in

Aylestone Pk have finally worked themselves in the playoff spots but still a lot of games in hand to be played. Lutterworth not out of that final playoff spot either. Both teams would have Atherstone away. Hinckley and Nirvana have settled middle of the pack. Oadby GNG look as good as down - been a long time coming.

STEP 6

Coalville on for the play-offs, a potential of any three teams - one of which could be Grace Dieu

Heather in playoffs of MFL D1, St Andrews got to hope some results go their way to get a playoff spot, a whole of glut of clubs mid-table and then Saffron Dynamo hoping for Wednesfield not to win their game in hand and end up in the drop zone.

Stapleford Town at home for Coalville.

18th April. 3pm KO.

They do indeed, I see it round our way, all sorts come out of the woodwork for the big games!  Then nowhere to be seen for run of the mill games.  Perhaps they're the 'limbs' brigade that post stuff on social media!

Glad we're heading back to NL North at Brackley, that league isn't any place for clubs our size.

They've competed as well as they can, should really have stayed up as they were under no threat in mid Feb but now they cannot find a way to win and look to be lacking quality.

It doesn't help that we couldn't field a full bench yesterday at home, only had 4 players on it but two were goalkeepers and one I think was a 40+ coach!  What's worse is that we had no real forward in the starting line up as he was on the bench!  Tbf it wasn't a bad afternoon at all and they held Boston to 1-1 in the end.

I think hybrid PT/FT clubs work real badly and for the past couple of months our team look completely up against it in the last 30 mins of games as the younger fitter FT teams up their game.

I'm not sure how clubs with crowds at 1500 or so actually financially survive with FT squads in the NL, it must be hard to do so.

What growth do Harborough have as a club? I’ve never been but believe they play on artificial turf? Could they expand the ground? Could they push on to an even higher level??

why's that?

Provocative and patronising to say the least.

Of course someone in his position shouldn't rise to it, but he's said what pretty much anyone would think having received it lol

Yes, they play on an artificial pitch (seems to be getting more common).

They could expand the ground, but could be limited on 2 sides. Currently holds about 2,000, need to up that to 3,000 if promoted, which looks likely, plus minor alterations, which l believe they are allowed time to complete (not just a summer rush job).

They have good backing, not just from 1 person, have a nice clubhouse & a function room that is frequently used for weddings, parties etc.

They are an ambitious club, but are aware of the pitfalls of how clubs can fall away etc.

Harborough have developed quick and fast, showcased true potiental of late. National League North will be tough, alot of clubs with bigger fan bases and bigger budgets. You need good income to survive in that league for sure. You think about it your only two promotions from the football league.

Bedford have made a decent fist of it, so no reason why Harborough can't go up and establish themselves as a NL side.

Us going down will also help a little bit too, you'd think.

To take us away from the misery of the county's professional club...

Harborough promoted to Step 2 (National League N/S), first Leicestershire team since Hinckley to play at that level

Barwell relegated to Step 4 in the same league.

Could be days from Anstey being promoted to Step 3 as well.

Went to Halesowen to watch Harborough. Fairly comfortable 3-1 win. A bit of trouble post game, local lads looking for a scrap.

Nearly 1,900 watching, 300 from Harborough.
